The City Manager announced that a letter had been received from the attorney for Gary tee Himes, withdrawing the request for a zoning change to permit dancing at t h e Mescjuj te Pub, Space 40 of Scyene Plaza, located between Mili.tary Parkway and Scpene Road. Since the applicant had earlier been advised that the matter woulr? be disposed of at this meeting, it was the consensus of the City Council to act on the matter, whereupon a public hearing was conductecl. Rev. Rodney Williams appeared in opposition to the request, Mr. Dcnnis Erwin appeared to voice op~esition to the request and presented petitions with signatures of 54 persons opposing the request. A public hearing was conducted to consider App1icatj.cn 1262-11 submitted by Buster Couvillion for an amendment to the Zoning Ordinance from Agriculture to a Conditional Use for an Airport on part of Tract 2, Abstract 1262 and part st Tract 2, Abstract 1026. This 101-acre tract is located south of Scyene Road 3,150 feet west of Dallas-Itaufman County line, extending southerly approximately 4,000 feet, then west l,000 feet, northerly 5,000 feet. Mr. Couvillion, accompanied by Mr. John Gibson, ConsuLting Engineer, presented the application. Mr. Couvillion stated that the airport would be owned and operated by the Phil Hudson fiunily; that this 101 acres is part of a 211-acre tract, the balance of which can be utilized at a later date.
