The following Cotton Towel Process will help remove odor causing impurities that may be in the solvent: 1. Purchase white cotton towels (Home Depot is a good spot) equal to the pounds of textiles you normally clean. We will use 40 pounds as an example. 2. Take 25% of the towels (10 pounds as per our example) and very lightly moisten them, the hand sprayer at a press works perfectly. 3. Place all 40 pounds in the wheel and bring as much solvent from tank 1 as possible to the wheel, if excess solvent is in tank 1 move it to tank 2. 4. Pump the Primary to the still, the still should be off and cool during this process. 5. MILL, pumping the solvent to and from the wheel through the button trap for 15 minutes. 6. FILTER, pumping the solvent to and from the wheel through filter 1 for 15 minutes. 7. DRAIN, the solvent from the wheel to the still for 2 minutes, do not overfill the still. If still is full then direct the solvent back to tank 1 8. SLOW EXTRACT, for a period of 2 minutes pumping the solvent into the still. Do not overfill the still 9. COAST, until the wheel stops 10. DRYING should then take place; this will take a long period of time as you did not high-speed extract the towels. 11. REMOVE the towels from the wheel when dried. 12. WASH, the towels in your laundry washer and completely dry for re-use. 13. Repeat steps 2 though 13 for tank 2 and filter 2. 14. DRAIN, the water from the Primary Separator after the completion of each cycle.

COTTON TOWEL PROCESS FOR

DRY CLEANING MACHINES WITHIn order to control musty odors or gym-sock type odors in the dry cleaning it is most beneficial to cleanse the system on a regular basis. The Cotton Towel Process is run whenever there is an indication of an odor in the solvent or on the garments being cleaned.

STILLS

It is important to realize that odor may be caused by improper maintenance procedures such as: \

• NOT CHANGING CARTRIDGES FREQUENTLY ENOUGH • NOT CLEANING THE SEPARATION SYSTEM (WATER SEPARATORS) • A MALFUNCTION OF THE SEPARATOR AT WHICH TIME WATER IS RETAINED BY THE CLEANING

MACHINE • NOT CLEANING BASE TANKS ON A SCHEDULED BASIS

o IF USING ACF, ACTIVATED CLAY FILTRATION) TANKS SHOULD BE CLEANED EVERY 6 MOS. o IF NOT USING ACF THEN ANNUAL TANK CLEANING IS SUFFICENT OR WHAT THE DRY

CLEANING MANUAL SUGGESTS.

The following Cotton Towel Process will help remove odor causing impurities that may be in the solvent:

If still is full

then direct the solvent back to tank 1 8. SLOW EXTRACT, for a period of 2 minutes pumping the solvent into the still. Do not overfill the

still 9. COAST, until the wheel stops 10. DRYING should then take place; this will take a long period of time as you did not high-speed

extract the towels.

TECH TIP: PURCHASE SOME OLD COTTON SWEATERS AND MARK THEM AS TEST, RUN THESE WITH LOADS AND INSPECT FOR ODOR. LAUNDRY WASH THE SWEATER AFTER CLEANING SO THAT YOU MAY USE THIS TO TEST AGAIN. COTTON SWEATERS ARE MOST PRONE TO PICK UP ODORS AND CAN HELP IDENTIFY A PROBLEM EARLY ON.
