Kaye and David have worked flat out on their property, preparing for the open garden weekend fundraiser. Their stunning garden was complimented with beautiful sunshine that attracted the local community. Parents Club organised the eventful weekend with assistance from college staff and students to ensure the weekend was an absolute delight. Face painting, instrumentals, backyard cricket, a scavenger hunt, and of course, the colleges amazing coffee shop with an array of delicious treats were all enjoyed. So many came together on this weekend that showed a great passion in supporting our college. If you were not lucky enough to get to the Open Garden, do not despair, you can still support this event by purchasing raffle tickets for amazing prices. See within the KIT for further details. Thanks again to the Lavertys, our amazing Parents Club, staff and students. This week, on top of the feel goodexperience of being immersed in a beautiful garden, back within school grounds the Year 5/6 students engaged in a program; Drama for Emotional Health. This hands on and interactive workshop program was delivered by the experienced Alyson Evans, who uses drama as a vehicle to encourage thought, discussion and communication skills amongst students to educate and equip students with strategies if they may be experiencing low self esteem, challenging behaviours, or mental health issues. This was one of a few sessions that provides a safe space for young people to explore their emotions and behaviour in a practical and engaging way using carefully designed games and role play. It is non-confronting and the laughs from our students evidenced the fun they had. I was unable to attend the public viewing of the short film My life, My Disability that aired near two months ago. This film was produced through a program lead by the Towong shire initiative and outlines a story about inclusion. These words feel far too understated for the impact that this has had on me. My further need to view this film was driven by the conversation I have been hearing from some of our students that assisted in creating the film. My Life, My Disability brings our awareness to the 32.7% or 1930 of Towong Shire residents who experience disability. This film allowed our cherished residents with disabili- ties, or those caring for their loved ones with disabilities, to voice openly about their journey of hardships, seeking support, but moreover, it expressed their openness and passion to have others view into their world as a way to share knowledge and understanding. This film was such a message of strength and love. I recommend that everyone views it. It is easy to find on YouTube by searching My Life, My Disability and Towong Shire. I am so grateful for the sharing from our community in opening the doors to their personal world and allowing us a glimpse of what each day brings to them. As a reminder to all parents and students of Year 9-12, if you have not already, please make an appointment to meet with Mrs Klippel to discuss subject selection and career pathways. Please contact the college if you have not received a letter from your child indicating the code to book through www.schoolinterviews.com.au as per usual parent teacher interviews. We are coming to the last week for our Year 12 students (last day Tuesday 24th October), with this time we celebrate their achievements and endeavours. Students are reminded that, whilst this time is about celebration, we will not tolerate any havoc caused by students on school grounds before, during or after this time. Year 12 students and parents are reminded to be vigilant over these days as any students trespassing on school grounds, unless for teacher tutorials, or VCE Exams, will be putting themselves at risk of penalty or not being able to sit at Corryong College s Examination Centre. This time is taking very seriously and will not be taken lightly as we work hard to ensure the best environment for all students working through this important time in their life. All students are reminded to move through the examination area as quietly as possible or avoid the official examination area (Block A) as much as possible. In celebrating our brilliant 2017 Year 12 students, their Graduation will be held Friday 24th at the Youth Club Hall. Ticket sales for this cease next week, with students permitted 7 tickets each (not including themselves). Please see Mrs Edwards for further queries. Wishing you all a great week ahead. Dear Parents/Guardians,

I would like to open this week’s KIT with a huge thank you to Kaye and David Laverty for opening

their property to benefit the continued development of our college. Kaye and David have worked flat

out on their property, preparing for the open garden weekend fundraiser. Their stunning garden was

complimented with beautiful sunshine that attracted the local community. Parents Club organised the

eventful weekend with assistance from college staff and students to ensure the weekend was an

absolute delight. Face painting, instrumentals, backyard cricket, a scavenger hunt, and of course, the

college’s amazing coffee shop with an array of delicious treats were all enjoyed. So many came

together on this weekend that showed a great passion in supporting our college. If you were not lucky

enough to get to the Open Garden, do not despair, you can still support this event by purchasing raffle

tickets for amazing prices. See within the KIT for further details. Thanks again to the Laverty’s, our

amazing Parents Club, staff and students.

This week, on top of the ‘feel good’ experience of being immersed in a beautiful garden, back within school grounds the Year

5/6 students engaged in a program; Drama for Emotional Health. This hands on and interactive workshop program was

delivered by the experienced Alyson Evans, who uses drama as a vehicle to encourage thought, discussion and communication

skills amongst students to educate and equip students with strategies if they may be experiencing low self esteem, challenging

behaviours, or mental health issues.

This was one of a few sessions that provides a safe space for young people to explore their emotions and

behaviour in a practical and engaging way using carefully designed games and role play. It is

non-confronting and the laughs from our students evidenced the fun they had.

I was unable to attend the public viewing of the short film My life, My Disability that aired near two months ago. This film

was produced through a program lead by the Towong shire initiative and outlines a story about inclusion. These words feel far

too understated for the impact that this has had on me. My further need to view this film was driven by the conversation I have

been hearing from some of our students that assisted in creating the film. My Life, My Disability brings our awareness to the

32.7% or 1930 of Towong Shire residents who experience disability. This film allowed our cherished residents with disabili-

ties, or those caring for their loved ones with disabilities, to voice openly about their journey of hardships, seeking support, but

moreover, it expressed their openness and passion to have others view into their world as a way to share knowledge and

understanding. This film was such a message of strength and love. I recommend that everyone views it. It is easy to find on

YouTube by searching My Life, My Disability and Towong Shire. I am so grateful for the sharing from our community in

opening the doors to their personal world and allowing us a glimpse of what each day brings to them.

As a reminder to all parents and students of Year 9-12, if you have not already, please make an appointment to meet with Mrs

Klippel to discuss subject selection and career pathways. Please contact the college if you have not received a letter from your

child indicating the code to book through www.schoolinterviews.com.au as per usual parent teacher interviews.

We are coming to the last week for our Year 12 students (last day Tuesday 24th October), with this time we celebrate their

achievements and endeavours. Students are reminded that, whilst this time is about celebration, we will not tolerate any havoc

caused by students on school grounds before, during or after this time. Year 12 students and parents are reminded to be

vigilant over these days as any students trespassing on school grounds, unless for teacher tutorials, or VCE Exams, will be

putting themselves at risk of penalty or not being able to sit at Corryong College’s Examination Centre. This time is taking

very seriously and will not be taken lightly as we work hard to ensure the best environment for all students working through

this important time in their life. All students are reminded to move through the examination area as quietly as possible or avoid

the official examination area (Block A) as much as possible.

In celebrating our brilliant 2017 Year 12 students, their Graduation will be held Friday 24th at the Youth Club Hall. Ticket

sales for this cease next week, with students permitted 7 tickets each (not including themselves). Please see Mrs Edwards for

further queries.

Wishing you all a great week ahead.

Year 9-12 news.

Transition

Last week many of our current Year 10 and Year 11 students had interviews with our Careers Practitioner, Mrs Klippel. They spent time discussing their future and selecting their VCE/VCAL subjects to be studied in 2018. Mrs Edwards has now transferred these to a system whereby these will become part of the timetable.

Last week current Year 8 students attended a Year 9 information session run by Mr McKimmie whereby they received handbooks for 2018 subjects. This week current Year 9 students we given the handbook, along with an interview booking code. Please ensure that you and your child make a session with Mrs Klippel which will run next week on (Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th October 7.45am to 6pm

Year 12

Last day of classes and exam

Year 12s officially finish their classes on the afternoon of Tuesday 24th October. They are invited to a ‘Celebration Day’ by sharing breakfast with their peers and Year 12 teachers at 8am on Wednesday 25th October.

Students are not permitted on school grounds until 7am on Wednesday morning, trespassing during Tuesday night may occur a penalty and put students at risk of sitting at Corryong College’s Examination Centre. Many teachers will still be running their classes on Thursday and Friday and the weeks leading up to the exams. Please approach your teachers to find this out.

Attached is the Unit 3&4 VCE exam timetable. Exams begin right on the hour, so we encourage students to be organised by turning up at least 15 minutes prior to their scheduled exam. Please note that A Block is the official Examination Centre and that in support of our Unit 3&4 VCE student to please keep noise to a minimum during November.

Graduation

Year 12 Graduation will be held on Friday 24th November in the Youth Club Hall. It is reminded that tickets went on sale at the beginning of Term 4 and sales cease next week. Students are allowed to purchase 7 graduation tickets at the cost of $30 per person. If you require extra let Mrs Edwards know and she will see what can be sorted once all students have purchased. The Year 12 student must also pay for a ticket which includes a two course meal. Afterwards there will be music to hang around and celebrate the last 13 years of schooling.

Tough Mud Corryong

Tough Mud Corryong is not only about our students coming together for an amazing event, it is also about raising some much needed

funds for our school. Last year we raised over $6,000 through this event and we are hoping that that money along with what we raise this

year will allow us to resurface our basketball court. So jump online and support our students - there's also some great prizes on offer for

every dollar you raise. Simply visit www.myprofilepage.com.au to start fundraising or collect a sponsorship booklet from the office. With

only 3 weeks to go until our event, time is running out.

Register Your Team Now!

Register your team now for Tough Mud Corryong. Teams should consist of 4 - 10 students. Team entry is $20. We are only 3 weeks

away from event day so get yourself organised. You can register your team during form assembly.
