From the Prof. David M. Hodgson (University of Oxford)personal comments we wish to correct the absolute configurationof N-sulfinyl amine 1 as (S) instead of (R) as it was incorrectly writ-ten in our article. This error was inadvertently undetected becausethe reaction of (S)-menthyl-p-toluenesulfinate with lithiumamides gives (S)-p-toluenesulfinamides, since while inversion atsulfur occurs the absolute configuration is unchanged as CIP prior-ity of incoming amide falls below that of the sulfinyl oxygen
(whereas the alkoxide displaced was of higher priority than thesulfinyl oxygen). This mistake affects Schemes 2–5 and the textin the Abstract and in the left column of page 1894. A similar errorwas made in the two Letters in reference 13 (personal communica-tion from Martin J. Wanner, University of Amsterdam).
The authors would like to apologize for any inconveniencecaused.
