Reception of Holy Communion at Mass

For the last three and a half months, all parishioners have been invited to receive the Eucharist after the priest’s final blessing, as a way of keeping the congregation safer and more separate in this time of the pandemic. As of this weekend (September 13), we will now return to the traditional way of receiving; that is, right after the priest, and before the final prayer and blessing. We will also return to an entrance procession as well as a recessional at the end of the celebration. So please try to arrive before the Mass begins, and never leave until the priest exits. Thank you for continuing to wear a mask in Church, purifying your hands, and remaining socially distant in the pews and on

line for Communion! We will continue to record for internet viewing at home all three Masses in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Also realize that our Bishop has extended the dispensation for all Catholics from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass, so that your Spiritual Communion at home is still valid. May God Bless our faithful parish and people of Corpus Christi!

    Religious Education Update

Good luck to all of our families as we begin a new school year, whether on site, virtual, or homeschooling. The new school year is a blessing and brings with it a strong sense of hope and optimism. I am very happy to announce that the school building will re-open for religious education classes this month with the necessary modifications. Wearing masks, sanitizing and distancing are part of our regular routine. The children will attend class every other week to help maintain spacing and small groups in our full sized classrooms. The desks have been spaced apart and will also serve as the dividers between children. The classrooms are only used by the Religious Education Program. The desks, chairs, and surfaces will be sanitized by our maintenance staff. “Twenty Minutes with the Director’, special events, and a condensed syllabi will help supplement our classes. Confirmation candidates in grades 6, 7, 8 will work on their Confirmation workbooks on their “off” weeks. At this early start of the year, our veteran families and families with first graders or those who have just moved into the parish are given priority for placement first. Those on a waiting list will be processed next. If you are comfortable in doing so, we can use two catechists for on site instruction in grades 5 and 6. Please contact me at [email protected] or 516-294-0631. The first session of classes will begin on Tuesday, September 15th, a week earlier than usual, and we will combine our classes during the last three sessions of the year, for review and assessments, if it is safe to do so. As the saying goes, “the longest journey begins with the first step”. Godspeed as we go forward. Prayerfully,

Susan M. Anaischik Susan M. Anasichik Dirctor of Religious Education

Corpus Christi School Then and Now Our Corpus Christi School has come a long way since its dedication in 1953, to what it now looks like today, sixty-seven years later! The new additions in the last few years include:

All the windows; the whole roof; the parking lot for 25 vehicles; wrap around driveway with entrance and exit; new signs and landscaping; new sidewalks and street lights; brand new gym floor; improved bathrooms; hand rails at both doorways; all new fencing surrounding the property; security lighting and pending cameras. Next year we will be installing a new heating system and boiler. God bless all of our children and young people of Corpus Christi!

Starting on Thursday, 1st of October, Corpus Christi Church will open its “Mass Intention” book for the New Year 2021. If you wish to have Masses offered for your deceased loved ones, particularly on those special dates such as anniversaries and birthdays, please bring your requests to the Parish Office beginning on October 1st. We will try to accommodate all of your intentions. The suggested Mass offering is $20. It would be very helpful if you could bring a written list of names and dates with you. The weekday Mass schedule will be different starting January 1, 2021. There will be a Mass at 7:30am and one at 12pm. On special National Holidays we will have only one Mass at 9am.

    Español XXIV DOMINGO DEL TIEMPO

    ORDINARIO

    Português XXIV DOMINGO DO TEMPO

    COMUM

Segurando-o, começou a apertar-lhe o pescoço, dizendo: Paga o que me deves.
