This slide presentation on 'Corporate Social Responsibility' presented by Prof.Dr.J. Christopher Daniel,M.A.,Ph.D., has been prepared for Corporates,Social Enterprises, International funders, Foundations, Nonprofits involved in CSR initiatives and students of M.B.A,M.S.W,NGO management and Social entrepreneurship programmes. Dr J. Christopher Daniel (born in India,1947) is the founding Executive Director of the Goodwill social work centre (NGO), Madurai, India. He is a former Professor of social work and Human Resources Management at the Madurai Institute of social sciences, Madurai, India. He received his master’s degree in Social work with human resources management(HRM) as a field of specialization from the Loyola College (University of Madras), Chennai, India in 1971 and Ph. D in social work/HRM from the Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, India in 1988.He holds a Certificate in International interdisciplinary Course on Children’s rights awarded by the University of Ghent, Belgium in 1996. With his wide academic and professional experience for 38 years as a Professor of Social Work and Human Resources Management he has trained hundreds of young women and men in professional social work practice, social entrepreneurship, human resources management and NGO management at the post graduate level. As a free lance writer he has to his credit more than 150 articles on various social issues including children’s rights, and human resources management issues published in national and international journals, books and web magazines and websites. Dr.Christopher Daniel is a winner of the UnltdWorld (UK) Global Impact BRIC ( Business, Resources, Insight and Community) award 2009 for social entrepreneurship. As the Founding Executive Director and CEO of Goodwill Social Work Centre,Madurai,India he has been instrumental taking up 'Corporates-Goodwill Social Work Centre Cross Cector Collaborative Projects in Tamilnadu,India in partnership with multinational companies and International funding organisations. Madurai,India. One of the achievements is that his organisation was declared as one of the four international winners of “Panda IT Aid,2006”, Panda Software International, Spain( http://www.pandasoftware.com) to create community technology centres for over 900 children and young women in low and moderate income families in and around Madurai,India. Corporate Social Responsibility: The external dimension
Anti-corruption - Principle 10 Businesses should work against all forms of corruption, including extortion and bribery. z
Environment - Principle 7 Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges; Principle 8 -Undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and Principle 9- Encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
