November marks the month of Irish Wheelchair Association’s (IWA) National Fundraising Campaign, ‘Angels’ in which you and your staff can come together to raise funds for IWA.

IWA Angel Campaign

The vision of IWA is the achievement of full social, economic and educational

integration of people with disabilities in the community.

IWA is committed to improving the lives of people with disabilities, enabling people to live,

laugh, learn and love in their community alongside family and friends. IWA is asking companies and organisations

big and small to join forces with us and help continue to make a difference to the lives of people with disabilities

living in your community.

All monies raised are immediately invested into the range of services our Association provides to our members

living in your community. We would be delighted to have you on board, and this year we hope this pack will help

your team get started.

Hot Chocolate Afternoon PartyOrganise a hot chocolate afternoon party for all your colleagues to enjoy during the 3pm slump. It’s really easy & fun too!

Angel Cake & Coffee MorningGet baking and enjoy an Angel Cake with your work mates. It’s simple and effective and a great way of bringing staff together from all departments.

Casual FridayDrop the formal dress in your workplace on the first Friday in November! Staff pay a small amount so they can wearcasual clothes or a costume to work. If you work with the general public, this is also a great buzz-maker and raisesawareness about the Angel Campaign throughout the day.

Supper Quiz Not your normal Table Quiz. Organise a Supper alongside a Table Quiz in your work canteen or social venue and see which department has the brains!

Extra Annual Leave Day Organise a raffle amongst the staff so one person enjoys an extra annaul leave day (agreed by Manager!).

Job Swap Raffle off the organisations jobs and swap roles with your colleagues to experience a day in the life of your colleague. Bet you all want to swap with the boss!

Six helpful ideas to get you started

The money you raise funds our services...DorisIT’S THAT SIMPLE!

Fundraising can be fun - so why not encourage some friendly team building while also raising much needed funds for IWA!

Create a plan and ask a number of people to get involved from different departments. Find as many ways as possible for the event to be a success and generate income for IWA. Seek sponsorship in kind, raffle prizes, venue, music, food, etc from your suppliers.

TOP TIPS FOR MAKING YOUR ANGEL EVENT A SUCCESS 3

For companies with only a few employees, holding a charity day at your workplace for IWA can still bring in lots of funds for local services; you just have to be a little more creative and try to get your customers involved too.

Pick an appealing event, maybe one of the six detailed in this pack or one of your own but make sure that it is fun and enjoyable to all.

Start organising now and give yourself loads of time to arrange all aspects of the event. With great teamwork your event could be an annual success.

Pick a date and time that suits as many of your colleagues as possible and try to avoid clashes with company events/deadlines.

Once all organised get the word out through your staff intranet, emails, Facebook, noticeboards and local media.

So while you are enjoying a fun-filled event in your workplace

you are also supporting people with disabilities in your

communities. Be part of this year’s Angel Campaign and

organise your own workplace event. How you raise your funds is

entirely up to you – but make sure to enjoy it and have a laugh!

Remember why you are raising funds, have fun, make your

co-workers smile and raise money for the Angel Campaign, while

supporting the services IWA provides in your local community.

My colleagues and I decided to select IWA as our charity of choice for the month of November. We were delighted with the corporate pack we received, which included balloons and a selection of Angels Products. It was a great way for everyone to come together for a catch up at the end of a busy week, while also supporting a great cause. We were delighted to raise funds for the Angels Campaign and to be in a position to support IWA.
