What is Climate Change?Climate change in IPCC usage refers to a change in the state of the climate
hat can be identified (e.g. using statistical tests) by changes in the mean
and/or the variabili ty of its properties and that persists for an extended
period, typically decades or longer. It refers to any change in climate over
ime, whether due to natural variability or as a result of human activity.
This usage dif fers from that in the United Nations Framework Convention
on Climate Change (UNFCCC), where climate change refers to a change of
climate that is attributed directly or indirectly to human activity that alters
he composition of the global atmosphere and that is in addition to natural
climate variability observed over comparable time periods.

Why Carbon and
Carbon Actions?
Carbon has become the common denominatorfor measuring carbon emission, whether it is
generated from energy, water, waste or food.
Talking about green is not tangible.
Carbon in tonnage is a measurable unit
applicable to individual lifestyle, business
operations and industrial operations in terms
of carbon footprint. Carbon actions are
actions that either 1) actively reduce
individual and collective carbon footprint or
2) offset carbon emissions by purchasing
carbon credits that support verified renewable
energy projects.
Corporate CarbonCarer ProgramClimate Change is a global issue that has undoubted
significant local impact. Corporate CarbonCarer Program is
an all-encompassing and highly engaging program
developed by Carbon Care Asia (CCA) to enable local
organizations, with its management, staff and even
customers, to take a more proactive role in contributing to a
low carbon environment, making local actions measurable
and significant.
The Program comprises of a few key customizable
components, each of which can be tailored into the
objectives of the organization. Each organization can also
decide to take on all or selective components depending on
its readiness.
Low Carbon Workplace Assess, reduce, measure and
offset carbon footprint in the workplace. Build awareness
and cultivate new habits in low carbon work and life style.
Employee Engagement - Building low carbon knowledge
and value among different levels of employees throughCarbonCare talks, carbon offset and outdoor engagement
activities.
Carbon Offset Providing high quality and reliable carbon
offset to support renewable energy projects and to achieve
carbon neutrality for organizations or employees.

Carbon Footprint MeasurementCarbon footprint measurement is fundamental to carbon management
strategy in an organization. CCA will conduct a detailed footprint
measurement covering the different sources of carbon emission in the
workplace. To do this, CCA follows key international standards, ie ISO14064
and the Greenhouse gases (GHG) Protocol, along with local carbon audit
guidelines from the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) and the
Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) of the Hong Kong
SAR Government .
Reporting and RecommendationsPresent carbon audit results with reduction recommendations and possiblefuture actions.

Carbon AssessmentThe first step to build a low carbon office is to assess the sources of carbonemission of an office. CCA will review the current operation and identify thesources of carbon emission in the clients office.
Carbon OffsetFor the portion of emission that cannot be reduced, the organization can
purchase carbon offset to become a carbon neutral office.

Benefits of Becoming a Low Carbon WorkplaceThe objectives of a Low Carbon Workplace are to promote carbon
awareness and interests among event participants, staff, supporters and
the wider community.
Climate Change is currently the #1 Corporate Social Responsibility issue.
Becoming a CarbonCare Workplace provides a creative, new channel for
corporate sustainability programs, while staying active in engagement and
awareness building amongst leaders and employees. It sets a role model in
individual/corporate leadership on carbon reduction and effectively
introduces a new low carbon work/life culture.
To be the first mover in becoming a CarbonCare Workplace also builds the
brand, sets the trend and promotes positive publicity for organizations.

Carbon OffsetTo complete all steps to carbon neutrality, organizations
will have to purchase Verified Emission Reductions
(VERs) from renewable energy projects via CCA for
portions of emissions that cannot be avoided.
Carbon Care Asia supports carbon offset projects
through purchasing carbon credits in renewable energy
and resource conservation projects. CCA sources
Verified /Voluntary Emission Reduction (VER) and
Certified Emission Reduction (CER) certificates inChina.
Under the CCA Carbon Offset scheme, clients are
offered the choice of purchasing from various VER
projects to offset their carbon footprints.
Institutional clients who wish to purchase higher
volume and more specific carbon credits (VER or CER)
are offered customized packages by CCA.
Why Carbon Offsets?Carbon offsets help you balance out your own
contribution to global warming by funding greenhouse
gases reduction projects. With carbon offsets, you can
balance out 100% of those emissions you cannot
eliminate through conservation. Funding such projects
also create green jobs, reduce health and life hazards
created by industries such as coal-mining, re-create
balance in communities badly affected by carbon
emitting industries or climate change.
What are Voluntary Emission Reductions
(VERs)?
Voluntary Emission Reductions (VERs) are
purchasable credits transferred from greenhouse
gases reductions made possible by an emissions-
reducing project, such as a wind farm. VERs are
verified by independent third parties based on
various current standards. They become the
instrument for individuals, organisations oractivities to offset their emissions.

About Carbon Care AsiaCarbon Care Asia is an integrated carbon
management solutions provider. We provide
solutions for businesses and institutions to
manage their impact on the environment by
measuring, reducing and offsetting their carbon
dioxide emissions.
Our Vision & Action 450K CampaignCarbon Care Asia aims to mainstream low carbon
management practices by companies, institutions
and the community in Hong Kong and nearby
regions by 2012. We have announced a Hong Kong-
wide Action 450K Campaign through which we
hope to engage both public and business sectoral
leaders to together help reduce/offset carbon by
450,000 tonnes by the end of 2010, i.e. 1% of HongKongs annual carbon emission.
