True visionaries look at the world a little differently. They see pos-sibility where others see improbability. They set new standards whileothers settle for the status quo. Joe Martin Sr. was a visionary. In1951, Joe Martin Sr. envisioned the possibilities of an emerging busi-ness. His philosophy of providing quality products, exceptionalinventories, and service second to none would prove to be a suc-cessful and innovative combination. What began as a vision in ashed behind the family farm sparked the birth of a company thathas grown to become a world-class leader in the power transmis-sion industry.
Martin Sprocket & Gear, Inc. continued to flourish. In 1960,Joe Martin Jr. took command of the business. Through his lead-ership Martin began its unprecedented growth...and in the process hasbecome the recognized market leader by establishing benchmarks for
responsiveness, reli-ability, productquality, and ease ofdoing business.
After nearly fivedecades in business,Martin continues asone of the nation’sleading manufactur-ers of quality powertransmission com-ponents and materi-al handling equip-ment. In 1998,investments includ-
ing a major acquisition, a major new foundry and sheave plant, andthe single largest investment in machine tools in Martin’s history...havepositioned Martin to remain an industry leader in the years ahead.
Today, Martin Sprocket & Gear stands as testament to the strengthand power of a solid idea backed by dedication and determination.
The corporate headquarters located inArlington, Texas sits atop 40 acres, home of over 500,000 square feet ofmanufacturing facilities. Martin
One important factor in Martin’s success is the extensive and ongo-ing capital investment in the latest manufacturing equipment.Specifically, the use of computerized numerical control machines, whichallow Martin to magnify both capacity and quality for faster set-up,increased accuracy and increased volume.
The manufacturing plant in Paragould, Arkansas, is just one exampleof our commitment to the highest performance equipment. Recognizedas one of the most advanced“sintered metal” operations inthe industry, tooling used inthis plant is designed and builtby Martin to specifications thatensure the performance andproduct quality we demand. The primary raw material usedhere is specially processed pow-dered steel, and parts areformed using powerfulhydraulic presses. Martin hasnumerous hydraulic pressesranging in capacity from 60tons to 880 tons.
The parts are then passedthrough an atmosphericallycontrolled oven to bond the pow-ders together.
As part of our ever-evolvingcustomer service, we operate a state of the art computer system that ties
together Quotations, New OrderGenerations, Inventories, Shop FloorScheduling and Reporting. The systemallows sales and support personnel to trackan order from origination to its final desti-nation. At any given point along the way, detailed reports are available to ensure thatan accurate order is delivered on time.

sprockets in the industry.
We offer over 6,000 sizes of STOCK sprockets from less than 1” in
diameter to 60” in diameter in steel, stainless steel and plastic for
immediate shipment. Stock sprockets include single, double, triple
strand, double single, extended pitch, bored to size, QD or taper
bushed, and metric with standard or heat treated teeth.
Made-to-order sprockets are available in steel, cast iron, bronze, alu-
minum, non-metallic (including phenolic, nylon, UHMW, and oth-
ers) as well as zinc, cadmium, chrome, and other plating
processes.
Alterations such as bore, keyway, setscrews and hardening
are available from all Martin facilities on a same day/next day
basis. Stock sprockets are made from high carbon steel which
allows heat treating in the field when necessary, while avoid-
ing costly downtime and carburizing process.
Our Accu-torch® engineered class sprockets are stocked in
“A” and “C” styles in popular chain pitch sizes. Additional
sizes are available on a competitive made-to-order basis. Our
computer-driven manufacturing process ensures high quality,
long-life sprockets that enhance drive life.
All of our sprockets are designed to give you greater holding power
to shaft, increased sprocket wear life, increased productivity, and a
decreased need for maintenance. And our boxed and barcoded packag-
ing offers better protection during shipping and handling plus a sim-
pler, more efficient method of identification.
We’ve built our business on sprockets, so it makes sense that we’re

Martin has been manufacturing gears since 1964 and manu-
factures a complete line of spur gears with pressure angles in both
14-1/2 and 20 degrees made from domestic high carbon steels and
quality high tensile strength cast iron. In addition to spur gears,
Martin manufactures rack gears with standard face widths in both
14-1/2 degrees and 20 degrees, and wide face widths in 20 degree
pressure angles. We
manufacture not only
Diametral Pitch gears
and Circular Pitch gears,
but also the metric
“Module” pitch gears.
Martin maintains a
complete inventory of
bevel gears, miter gears,
and worm gears.
A complete manufac-
turing plant stands ready
to make not only stock
gears, but almost any “made-to-order” gear needed. With vast raw
material inventories, state-of-the-art machine tool capacity, and a “can
do” attitude, Martin sets the benchmark for quick delivery on specialty
gears.
All Martin gears are manufactured and precision inspected to exact-
ing standards and the Martin commitment to quality.

Jaw Couplings
A vast array of couplings is available from Martin. Our Quadra-
Flex® couplings set the standard for flexible couplings. They give you
4-way flexing action that absorbs shock and vibration, while with-
standing angular and parallel misalignment and end float. Because
Quadra-Flex® uses a torsionally soft elastomer in shear design, it will
wind up 15 degrees at rated torque. This provides 3 to 5 times more
flexibility and protects your valuable connected equipment from
shock. No metal-to-metal contact means no need for lubrication and
maintenance. They’re also easy to install, noiseless and clean.
All components, including a new, superior thermoplastic injection
molded elastomer sleeve, are manufactured by Martin. That’s what sets
these flexible couplings apart from the rest. You can expect better
quality, better balance and better value. We offer chain couplings in
bore-to-size and
stock bore - And
we offer jaw
couplings in two
different styles:
the MartinSuper®, which
gives you higher
horsepower, and
the Martin L-
Series®, which
is completely
interchangeable with other jaw couplings. And our Martin Flex® flexi-
ble couplings smoothly transmit power while compensating for shaft
misalignment to 4 degrees, parallel misalignment to 1/8” and end float
to 4/16”. The two piece flange design provides quick and easy installa-
tion and elastomeric element absorbs shock and torsional vibration
through a wide temperature range.
