Our 6-week summer camp attracted 70 students, grades K-8, to SAIC’s Mission MakerSpace.

Enrichment activities in reading, math, science, music and art were incorporated into a variety of educational, creative and fun activities –– growing crystals, painting ceramic cups, making ice cream, building robots, polishing rocks –– to name a few.

Albert Bricker, camp director, was assisted by teachers Adrianne Murphy and Donna Bruno, along with an AmeriCorps volunteer, high school interns and four upper level SAIC students.

It’s exciting to be a part of this as Principal, but each one of you is also a part of this adventure. Your prayers, volunteerism, and monetary support make each one of you a vital part in the lives of our students and families.

We continue in the footsteps of Mother Pia and the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose to serve our young and vulnerable, and to teach them, in the words of St. Catherine of Siena: “Be who God meant you to be, and you will set the world on fire.”

Reach out and invite others into our community of friends to be a part of this adventure in changing the world.

God bless you.

peace and joy,

Ms. Barbara E. MoodiePrincipal

Dear Friends of St. Anthony-Immaculate Conception School,It seems like yesterday when we began our 2018-2019

school year, and here we are ending our first quarter in just a few days. Time passes so quickly, and we see more and more changes the older we get.

Do you remember when you were young? Do you remember school? I bet you sat in rows and read from page 35 and answered the questions on page 37, or something similar to that. No longer are children learning that way. Through our blended learning program, students are using online learning programs and tools, experiencing more small group instruction targeted toward their learning needs, and collaborating with their peers.

Our workforce is no longer comprised of assembly lines and cubicles, but instead, production teams. With the support of Vision of Hope and you, our SAIC community of friends, we have been able to move our educational program into the 21st Century to prepare our students for the opportunities that await them.

Fall is the season when we are grateful for all the wonderful gifts that God has given us. We are particularly grateful for YOU, our ambassadors to the world and our faithful supporters.

We are always thinking of ways to strengthen our friendships with you. Do you remember your student days, perhaps because of a particular experience, another student or a teacher who meant a lot to you? Why not plan to come back to school, to see how wonderful it still looks? (Thank you again, Shea Family Charities!)

Our Reunion on November 10th is a perfect time to mingle with others who share your memories, and to hear what is happening at SAIC now. See the invitation on the back of this newsletter.

Several good friends of SAIC find joy in sponsoring children at the school. We want to celebrate the contributions of our Foundation and Corporate Donors (please see following list), as well as private donors who have established scholarships: Fr. Moises Agudo and St. Anthony de Padua Parish, Mrs. Elsie Foley, Sister John Martin Fixa, the Kathleen Fixa Memorial Scholarship, Ms. Sandra Grimm, Ms. Jennifer Hernandez, Mrs. Ann Hirsch, the Holy Family Scholarship, Mrs. Loretta Holstein

and the Julia Sierra Scholarship. A new name added this year is in honor of Sister Teresa

Baumann, St. Anthony School alumna, Dominican Sister of Mission San Jose and longtime teacher in Catholic schools.

If you are interested in establishing a scholarship or in adding St. Anthony-Immaculate Conception School to your will, please contact me at [email protected] or 415-642-6130. Blessings on your Fall and Thanksgiving!
