This is a fun and educational event to give CoreNet Global Young Leaders a wonderful opportunity to connect and learn from our CoreNet Global Seasoned Professionals. This relatively new concept in networking is modeled on the popular speed-dating idea. People are matched with each other for 10 minutes at a table to have one-on-one discussions focused on career advice and coaching. At the end of that time, people switch tables for another session. But the idea here is career building, not courtship. The objective of the event is to beef up your networking and interview skills at our Speed Mentoring session.

• Plan the pair ups in advance, everyone gets a “dance card” upon arrival

• Ensure the mentees move from table to table, the mentors can stay put

• Don’t overdo it, three rounds is plenty

Lessons Learned:• Would be good to ‘assign’ a

specific YL Secretary to each table to take notes next time

• Considering charging for these events so we don’t have to have sponsors

• Also considering charging so we make money to give proper ‘Thank You Gifts’ to mentors

• Bring Membership Packets as a standard to all YL events

• Don’t worry about scheduling too many ‘games’ to fill time. Everyone will be enjoying networking.

• If possible, have an ‘outsider’ be organizer of the tournament during the evening. They’ll help to keep the games running smoothly while you can network.

• May have scheduled event too long for middle of the week. Some stayed past 10pm, but others trickled out some time after they were eliminated.

This event gives young leaders a chance to get together and enjoy a fun night out with each other, network with board members, raise money for one of the chapter’s causes (in the Carolinas’s case, the UNCC Belk College School of Real Estate).

• If there is a specific topic that is to be discussed, a SME on said topic would be the preferred choice to moderate.

• If there is no specific topic, co-chairs can moderate. Go around the table and ask each member for 2-3 topics to discuss.

• A whiteboard or flipchart is recommended to make the discussion more interactive.

The Young Leader Roundtable is a great way for young real estate professionals to discuss the latest topics, trends and ideas that are currently combing the marketplace. A small group of Young Leaders share their insights from their respective fields. Each attendee should bring at least three topics he/she wishes to discuss.

Have a LEED certified architect, PM, or a panel to discuss the basics of LEED for those who are not as familiar with the criteria and terminology.
