For The Good Hawaii

big dreams

Page 11: CORE Magazine

It all began with three women sitting in a coffee shop talking about life and all our aspirations. Midway through coffee and tea, an idea came about… start a business. But more than a business, we wanted to build a movement that could come from it.

For The Good Hawaii was founded in December of 2013 with a simple mission: to build and grow a community of people, products, and services doing good things. Throughout this past year, we’ve grown our small businesses to a multi-faceted com-munity driven organization built on doing things for the good.

We started off as a lifestyle blog and now have over 15 writers from Oahu, Maui, Big Island, Kauai, and California who contrib-ute pieces to our readers! With the success of our blog, we took it to the next level and incorporated a video blog series where we highlighted 13 local companies and the good that they were doing.

In the beginning of 2014 we launched our Event Planning and Coordination Services. We focus on corporate events for communi-ty-based organizations such as non-profits and charitable companies. We’ve had the honor of planning events for companies such as Playbuilders Hawaii, MOMS On A Mission Hawaii, Rotary Club, and PBS Hawaii.

In the summer of 2014 we started our own charity program called For The Good “Pay-It-Forward.” In our Pay-It-Forward program we work directly with non-profits in our community to help make positive changes. We help with events, fundraise, or raise awareness on issues that we are passionate about.

This fall was an exciting time for For The Good as we launched our online and pop-up fashion boutique: FTG Boutique. We at-tended two major fashion conferences where we got to meet with several designers from

all across the world. We are bringing back quality and affordable fashion for the young professional. One of the most exciting aspects of our boutique is that a portion of all the proceeds go directly to our “Pay-It-Forward” program to help give back to the community.

This has been such a life-changing year for us. We’ve grown so much as individuals and have been so blessed by all the support and encouragement that you’ve given our small business. We couldn’t do it without all of you. We know that this is just the beginning and the best is yet to come. So stay tuned, because you’ll want to see the next chapter of For The Good… it’s going to be amazing. Let’s Do Good Together.

In October of 2014, For The Good Hawaii launched our fashion boutique, FTG Bou-tique. This line was built to encompass the styles of the three founders of For The Good Hawaii. We wanted to create a line that was built for the young professional woman who worked hard and was stylish the whole time.

This past summer, we had the privilege of attending two major fashion conferences on the mainland where we were able to meet designers from all over the world. We got to listen and learn from the top leaders in the fashion industry and are bringing back the latest styles and trends right to you!

You may be asking what defines our fashion line? Or what motivates the styles we bring in? The answer is simple, it’s you! We take into careful consideration the trends we see in Hawaii along with the upcoming national styles that are hitting runways and stores across the world. We try to blend all of that together in a cohesive mix that is perfect for both work and play.

In our fall and winter line, we brought in a variety of items that will be perfect for all of the holiday functions and festivities. One of the styles that we saw was gaining a lot of popularity was the incorporation of mesh into dresses.

When we think about giving back to the community most people would naturally think about what type of service they should do or which community club they should join.

This particular company gives back to the community in such a simple way, it actually stunned my mind to give back in this way! Spun Paradise has a mission, a mission to bring a smile to everyone’s face through cotton candy!

I had the pleasure of speaking with the own-er, Danna Eady, who created Spun Paradise with her husband for the pure pleasure of creating for fun! They had an idea of bring-ing something fun to Hawaii that would please not only the children, but also those who are young at heart.

Offering the classics of Strawberry, Blue Raspberry, Cherry, Green Apple, Grape, and Lemon for the traditionalists. However, the best sellers are local inspired flavors of Hawaii—Sea Salt Caramel and Coconut amongst adults and Lilikoi and Pineapple for the children. With these local flavors including macadamia nut, it’s apparent that Spun Paradise is inspired by Hawaii. They show this love in their nine Hawaiian

inspired flavors. These special nine flavors are made with organic cane sugar, are gluten free, vegan, and made with no artificial flavoring or coloring, instead made from actual food sources. So everyone can enjoy them! They are made following strict organic guidelines, which ensures a clean yet tasty treat. So indulge and don’t feel too guilty about consuming yummy sugar!

Be sure to keep an eye out, they have also begun to incorporate a local favorite, li hing mui, to selected flavors, currently available in Hilo’s farmers market.

As we speak she is settling in for the morn-ing in her office in Hilo, Hawaii. Danna shares of her recent recalling of how this simple idea of making cotton candy had grown significantly in the past year. It has been quite an evolution for the branding and I can hear her excitement over the phone as she speaks, for she knows, that for Spun Paradise, this is only the beginning.

Since her start last year in local farmers markets in Hilo and Honolulu, these tasty treats can now be found on Oahu in Primo, Polynesian Cultural Center, and Eden in Love. Danna has stretched her

business to serve the community beyond just the smiles. Spun Paradise offers a unique and enjoyable fundraising program open to all groups needing to raise extra money. They have also partnered with Eden in Love, a local boutique in Oahu who prides themselves of giving back to the com-munity. EIL currently carries two exclusive flavors that willbenefit Big Brothers, Big Sisters Hawaii.

When I think of cotton candy I think of the Maui County Fair or Punahou Carnival, but when I eat a cotton candy, I don’t only think about being young and fun, there’s a feeling that comes over me, having no worries at all. I never thought about it before, but Spun Paradise, you are right, there is something about cotton candy that will bring a smile to my face.

Take a bite of Hawaii’s fluffiest cotton candy and even if it’s for just a small moment, enjoy your memories. Life should be about your smiles!

808 Urban: The Art of GraffitiDesigner

Graffiti has often been associated with gangs, violence, and improper behaviors since it’s early arrival into the hip hop culture in the 1900s. The four elements of hip hop include rap (oral), DJ-ing (aural), break dance (physical), and graffiti (visual). These four elements are all intertwined and work hand and hand to produce the hip hop culture. Some will argue that the fourth element, graffiti, is what led hip hop to it’s successes from the 1970s till the present day. Graf-fiti was seen everywhere, in subways, bus stations, abandoned lots, and immense bill-boards. For some, graffiti became a nuisance and an eyesore. For others, graffiti became a form of communication. In the hip-hop culture, graffiti provided visual inspiration and encouragement for the next generation of rappers, DJs, and dancers.

Graffiti art educators teach of artistic expression and creativity. Educators share the beauty of individualistic work and in-spire others to be creative and unique. Some scholars even compare graffiti to ancient cave writings and hieroglyphics. All of which have one thing in common, a story.

This story is about a man named John “Prime” Hina. On a warm Hawaiian day in 2005, Prime’s children came home from school. They asked their dad if they could paint the garage. Prime agreed and the kids excitingly rushed to the garage to paint. After about 20 minutes Prime smelled spray paint. He rushed outside to see what his children were doing. On the garage walls were spray paint markings from his children. Prime was disappointed in his children not because they messed up the garage, but because the graffiti “sucked”. Prime made his children sit down and watch a real graffiti artist at work. Prime took the spray paint cans and began to make art. This experience reawakened Prime to the thrill

and art of graffiti. Soon after, Prime contin-ued to educate and re shape the anti graffiti image to a more positive and educational one. He started to have community barbe-que and benches for artists. Prime’s com-munity paint sessions and barbeques soon outgrew his backyard, and has transformed into a Hawaiian non-profit organization that has helped many of Hawaii’s children since 2006.

808 Urban strives to impact Hawaii’s com-munities through creativity, innovation and graffiti art. This Hawaiian non-profit arts organization continues to impact lives of many Hawaii children and adults since their formation in 2006. John “Prime” Hina, the founder of 808 Urban, started the organi-zation when he realized he could educate youth of the value of artistic expression through graffiti. 808 Urban offers educa-tional workshops and mentorship’s through their physical arts hub, The 808 Urban Refuge. Located in Kakaako, the 808 Urban Refuge offers a place for youth to hang out, talk story and learn about art. 808 Urban Refuge is also a retail store, where the public can visit and help support youth education and social change.

Date NightIn the world of dating and romance, find-ing the perfect activity to do together can sometimes be a challenge. We polled some of our audience and here are some great date ideas and alternatives to do in Hawaii!

Foodie Heaven

While going out to eat seems like an obvious choice, you can do so much with this! With an array of eclectic and unique food options here on the islands, you and your bae can go on a foodie adventure! Try something different that sounds funny or that you’ve never had and just embrace the experience of being out of your comfort zone. So skip out on the usual places you go and try something new! I mean really, you’d never know that cow tongue tastes amazing until you try it, right!?

Urban Fever

Hawaii has a growing urban scene that has revolutionized how people shop and dine! With events like Art + Flea, Eat The Streets, and Honolulu Night Market, it’s the cool thing to spend your Friday nights strolling along the streets of Kakaako sipping on mason jar lemonades and checking out the different boutique’s latest finds! This fun and casual setting is perfect for date night because there are things to satisfy each of you! Not to mention, there are some amazing deals and finds at these different events!

Adventurer’s Dream

For the adrenalin seekers, Hawaii is one of the best places to have an adventure. With some of the most pristine and beautiful hiking spots, you can get lost for hours in nature. Grab your gopro, hiking shoes, and

lots of water and head up to your favorite hike or trail. It might be a rough climb up, but as they say, the view is totally worth it!

Under The Sea

This one is an obvious! Hawaii is sur-rounded by water, so it only makes sense to have some water-based activity as a date. Shark cage diving? OK… well for those of us not that bold, snorkeling works just as great! There are a lot of beautiful snor-keling spots that you can visit to see some of the most colorful and interesting sea creatures ever. There’s also surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, swimming, and more. The water activity options are endless!

Staycation

So this one might be my personal favor-ite. We all have busy and hectic lives filled with work, emails, and everything that life throws at us. Sometimes it’s good to just take a little time and have a staycation! Hawaii is famous for our hotels and being a vacation destination. Just because we live here doesn’t mean we shouldn't take advantage of it! There are a lot of resident discounts and benefits so do some research when picking a hotel! But staycations don’t necessarily have to be in hotels only. Re-cently, my beau and I stayed at a lodge right outside the ocean and loved it! It wasn’t as glamorous as staying in the suite at the Sheraton, but there’s something about be-ing able to walk right outside and hear the ocean waves crashing and look up to see a sky full of stars.

Kids At Heart

I don’t care if I’m no longer a kid, there will always be a part of me that will have a soft

spot for Disney movies, toys, and being able to get those menus that you can color on! Embrace the kid inside you on your date night and do all the fun stuff you did as a child! In Kakaako, there’s the Children’s Discovery Center. Yes, it is designed for children to play and learn, but check it out. There’s some pretty fun stuff there no mat-ter what age you’re at… but it might help to offer to babysit your bestie’s kid and go!

Just The Two Of Us

I don’t know about you, but when my man comes over with take out Chinese food and some redbox movies, I know I’ve found “the one.” Sometimes date night doesn’t mean having to go out. Learning to spend quality time together in simple ways is just as im-portant. I mean at the end of the day, don’t we all just want someone who will cuddle up next to us as we munch on snacks and cover our eyes as we are watching zombie shows?

On November 8, 2014, I had the pleasure of experiencing an event with people that are like family to me. Alongside some of the crew members of Academy of Hype that I dance with, we participated in this year’s 2014 Color Run on the island of Oahu. Known for being the Happiest 5K on the Planet, the race definitely did justice to its title as far as I was concerned. Nothing says fun quite like getting colored cornstarch thrown at you as you run.

The day started off bright and early as I got ready to gear up for the colorful day ahead. Put on all white clothes to run in and caught a ride with my crew members Henry and Al-len to meet up with the others at our studio in Waipahu. When we arrived at the studio, we waited for the rest of our “Chrow Kala” team, name courtesy of Henry, so we could all drive to the race together as a group. Once everyone had gotten there, Color Run bags were distributed as we all helped one another pin our numbers on. Before we left, the unanimous group fish-eye selfie was a must. Dressed in white and ready to run, we smiled for the camera and left for the race immediately.

When we reached the site of the race in Kapolei, we parked next to one another and put our headbands on as we got out of our cars. We then proceeded to walk to the starting line to meet up with a few of our other crew members. Inevitably, some of us stopped to take more pictures. The Color Run set up Kaleidoscope photo stations to take individual pictures as well as group pictures. Followed by our momentary pho-to-shoot was our walk to the starting line for our time slot scheduled at 9:30AM.

The good thing about doing this particular run with a big group was being able to split up if need be. Half of us wanted to actually

run the race and the other half preferred to walk it. As our group ran throughout the race, we would pause before each color station to wait for our half to catch up. When we all ran through together, most of us got pelted with color dye by the event’s volun-teers. One of my crew members, Lorenzo, decided to be sneaky and throw a handful of purple across the side of my face. Most of the purple got in to my ear, so I undoubtedly felt that one.

We ran through colors Pink, Purple, Yellow, and Blue on our way to the finish line. At every station there was extra colored cornstarch on the floor and we used it to throw more color at one another or even lie down in it and make angels. Little did I know that I was giving everyone more of an incentive to dump more color on me. When I managed to escape the color brigade, Lo-renzo mentioned I resembled a fusion of the friendly, yellow minions and the evil, purple minions from Despicable Me 2.

At the last color station, almost all of us dropped to the ground and rolled across the blue cornstarch. We made our way to

RUnning in stylethe finish line as one big group and casually walked the rest of the way while we took pictures and laughed. By the stage, the emcee was counting down until the next color throw and was passing out bags of col-ored cornstarch. We huddled together and stayed for at least two countdowns as we saw several bags of color fly after the ten second countdown. We finally decided it was time to eat and headed back to our cars looking like colorful canvases.

The Color Run 2014 was my first official race, and it was a fun experience doing it with my crew mates. Early registration and discounted fees back in February were well worth the investment. Not only did we have fun, but we gained a great work out from it too.

Turning 30

Page 28: CORE Magazine

I believe that everyone at one point in their life has thought to themselves, “When I’m an adult I’ll have my life together and know what I’m doing.” I know that I did, I’ve said it many times in fact. Once when I was 18, again when I was 21, and again when I turned 25. Now that I’ve turned 30, a couple of times over, I keep waiting to feel like an adult. Or at least some semblance of the idea that, “I have my life together.” The thing about it is that you keep thinking, “I’ll be an adult when.” But maybe, just maybe, that’s the wrong attitude. Maybe the attitude should be, I am who I am and that’s who I’m going to be.

Now don’t get me wrong, things do change when you turn 30. Some things change for the better, some for the worse. Let’s take your friends for example. Around this time a lot my friends started to get married and have a family of their own. No longer were they available to go out randomly on a thurs-day for late night at Yanagi or a beer some-where after work. They had to get home to the kids or had date night with the signif-icant other. Lately I find even organizing dinner can be a month long process. Every-one has to find a date that works then pick a restaurant. What happened to the days of saying meet me here and four of your best friends would show up? Those days are long gone. But maybe that’s ok because you’re so exhausted from work that a quiet night in

with NetFlix and pizza sounds damn near perfection. Besides, you have to work tomor-row and you actually have to do work.

Speaking of work, most people start ques-tioning their career choice around 30. By now you’ve been through maybe 2-3 jobs, and possibly even promoted a few times. Re-gardless, this job now begins to feel real. You ask yourself, “Can I be like that lady down the hall that just made 30 years with this company? I do have a fully vested 401(k).” A couple of years ago you had no idea what a 401(k) was! Now you actually put money into it, willingly even! That can be a scary thought, but what’s even scarier is that it gives you a sense of security.

But just because you’re 30 doesn’t mean you have a sense of security about everything. The prime example is dating. I’ve found that dating is awkward at any age, and the last thing you have is a sense of security. Not only that, but it does get harder to meet people. You can always try the internet; some people have had great luck with it in fact. I certainly haven’t, but that’s another article. Dating when you’re 30 can be even more intimidating but the payoff is greater. When you’re younger you fall into a relationship because one or two things are great even though there are 99 other problems. When you’re 30, you know what you want out of a relationship and you’re not going to settle

for anything less. Sure you’re still going to make mistakes, but you know you’ve learned what to avoid and what to look for.

So being 30 isn’t all bad, in fact I enjoy being the age that I am. Sure there are days when I wish I were 21 again, but then I remember all of the drama and embarrassing things that I did. That’s not to say that embarrass-ing things no longer happen. While being 30 still doesn’t make me feel like an adult, it does make me feel more like me. In other words, it gives me a better understanding of who I am and what I want out of life. I feel more confident in my decisions and I feel better that I’ve learned from the mistakes that I’ve made. Sure I may still not feel like I have my life together, but who does? You’ll find that most people feel a little lost and as if they’re making things up as they go. May-be that’s what being an adult really is about, realizing your responsibilities and being aware of your faults. Go out there and enjoy your life, be the best damn 30 year old you can be. Then again there’s always NetFlix and pizza.

Throughout the Hawaiian Island chain, many foods revolve around the island lifestyle; from spam musubi to ‘ahi poke, visitors from around the globe travel to visit and experience the true meaning of Hawaii. Without one delicious treat, residents in Hawaii and visitors alike would not be able to manage the exhausting heat and humidity that hits us throughout the year—that food is shave ice!

To find the best shave ice on the island is an achievement within itself-one must decide the consistency of the ice, the flavor, the top-pings, and even more so, the atmosphere. To brave the masses of people at North Shore shave ice stands such as Matsumoto’s in Haleiwa is worth the drive, but forgotten are the hidden gems that are scattered through-out the rest of the island of Oahu. Located on the east—facing shore of Oahu is Uncle Clay’s House of Pure Aloha (HOPA) in the ‘Aina Haina Shopping Center, serving up the true aloha spirit along with their special HOPA shave ice and other sweet treats.

Uncle Clay’s House of Pure Aloha has a nev-er—ending goal of reaching out to people locally and across the globe to experience “aloha” in its truest form as more than just a greeting or parting farewell, but to extend kindness to others with a spirit that touches one’s soul and leaves an imprint on their heart. Uncle Clay is proactive in this goal as he is actively participates behind the counter while making conversation with his custom-ers, making sure that their experience at HOPA is as enjoyable as possible.

During my visit, Uncle Clay approached my mother and I with a warm smile and intro-duced us to his wife, and four other diners, all enjoying conversation, though they had just met. Just saying that we made acquain-tances was impossible—my mother and I left

HOPA a part of a growing ‘ohana (family). Uncle Clay’s spirit of aloha deepens the meaning of experiencing aloha in Hawaii. Uncle Clay also promotes living “the Pure Aloha way”, following seven rituals that will lead one to a happier and more appreciative lifestyle based on humility and inner peace.

By following the Pure Aloha journey, Uncle Clay and his nephew Bronson, who are equal partners have created multiple ways of giving back to the community through FUNdraising, while promoting local busi-nesses through their shave ice.

Established in 2011, Uncle Clay’s House of Pure Aloha has partnered with multiple local businesses such as Otsuji Farm, Waialua Estate, Styrophobia, and Tropical Dreams Ice Cream to create a wholesome experi-ence of a local eatery. Through Styropho-bia, Uncle Clay’s House of Pure Aloha also promotes malama honua (to care for the earth we reside on) through the utilization of biodegradable bowls and spoons, essen-tial to minimizing human impact on the world. Also, “HOPA” shave ice is as real and natural as it gets as Uncle Clay’s House of Pure Aloha creates and mixes their own all natural, homemade syrups - getting rid of artificial flavors, sweeteners, and colors, and using what is a resource to them here on the islands.

Daily flavors include strawberry, pineapple, li hing, mango, milk chocolate, coconut, lychee, liliko’i, and green tea, while Uncle Clay’s also has unique flavors such as kalespin and HOPA sunshine to go alongside monthly flavors such as pumpkin, haupia, sweet potato, coffee, vanilla bean, and horchata! By providing such dedicated service to their customers while interacting and getting to know them on a personal level, Uncle Clay’s surely fits the category as a top contender

for the best shave ice on the island. Not only do they serve aloha through their words, Uncle Clay’s House of Pure Aloha serves the aloha spirit through every bite of shave ice consumed. Visit Uncle Clay’s House of Pure Aloha Monday–Thursday from 11am–6pm, and Friday-Sunday from 10:30am–8pm at the ‘Aina Haina Shopping Center after a heart-pumping hike, a day at the beach, or just when you feel like eating deli-cious shave ice and don’t forget to live the “Pure Aloha way”!

VACATION anyone?Designer Cory Kacher

Author/Photographer Kawehi Nishimura

Page 33: CORE Magazine

VACATION anyone? When it comes to, “Where should I go on vacation?” people will usually pick Hawai’i. A lot of them will be seen relaxing on the beaches in Waikiki or even the North Shore. But when it comes to the Island itself and the beauty that is truly being of-fered, that is when the adventures begin. A lot of individuals will try different eater-ies, surfing or maybe diving and looking at our coral reefs. But what I suggest is something different such as hiking. Maybe some individuals are leery about hiking which is fine because our Island has be-ginner to expert level trails. For those who are not the biggest fan of it I suggest trying it before making a final decision. When it comes to a beginner hike I always choose Hana’uma Bay. But when doing this hike I usually go after five o’clock because by the time you reach the top, depending how fast you do it, you have a clear view of the sun setting, Diamond Head, the clear blue ocean. This hike always surprises me because the view at the end just never seizes to amaze me even when it is cloudy or drizzling. But another reason I enjoy this hike is because it is not crowded which allows you to enjoy every aspect it has to offer. For the moderate hikers I suggest the Ma-noa Falls trail. Yes, everybody knows about this hike, but what they do not know is that when you get closer to the falls there is a path that leads into the mountain on your left hand side, which is blocked off now by boulders that had fallen in its path, but when it was open you could walk up the path which led you going zigzag up the mountain. While walking up I took a break in the middle of a beautiful bamboo forest and felt such a serene feeling while

breathing in the cool crisp air. As I contin-ued my journey I ended up running into another individual who actually told me he started his hike from Tantalus which shocked me because I did not know that Manoa Falls hike even connected to hikes from Tantalus. As we both departed our separate ways I ended up at the top of the mountain where I could not believe my eyes, because the view at the end of this hike was out of this world. Mother Nature has never failed me here in Hawai’i and after this day I knew she never would. I could see the Pali Highway, Kane’ohe, and the clearest double rainbow I have ever seen in my life, even until this day. As it started to rain, I knew it was time for me to leave this beautiful sight. Hiking back down was not boring at all because it allowed me to view things that I may have missed when hiking up, for example I did not realize how big the trees around me were until I had to hide under them to get out of the rain. For those of you who feel that hiking is not for you, I suggest you try it before you leave this beautiful Island. And for those who are from here get out and look at what is really in front of you because the world is changing around us every day and trust me you do not want to miss the opportunity to explore such beauty our Island has to offer. And for everyone, please help to keep our Island clean as if the Island is your personal home this will allow our hikes together to be breathe taking every single time! So stop, look, and enjoy what Mother Nature has to offer you!

Looking back at it now, this has definitely been an amazing year filled with growth, challenge, and experience. I’ve learned so much about myself, but ultimately, I take away that I could not do any of this alone. Our small business wouldn't be where it is today without the support of the people around us. I can’t say “thank you” enough to my mom and dad for putting up with the challenges of having an entrepreneur for a daughter. From letting me use the living room as my warehouse, to making me food when I forget to eat, to just being there to tell me it’s going to be okay. Thank you for always believing in me and supporting my decisions. I hope I’ve made you proud. To my best friends Rocky and Nainoa, thank you from the bottom of my heart for put-ting up with everything! You both are my go-to volunteers for everything and anything related to For The Good (and life for that matter). No matter how busy or crazy your own lives got, you never hesitated to be there for me when I needed you both most. I couldn’t have asked for better friends. Thank you to the extraordinary people who make up the For The Good team! A spe-cial thanks to Tina who came into our lives and changed it for the better. Your enthu-siasm and drive have kept us going even when times get rough. I’m so blessed to have grown a friendship with you and know how amazing you truly are. To our amazing videographer, Celina, you’ve been able to capture our moments and put together stories that inspire us. To all our bloggers and support staff, thank you for your dedication and support. You’ve believed in our mission from the beginning and you’ve played a crucial role in our company. Of course, thank you to my business partners turned sisters, Mari-ah and Chelsea. I still remember us talking about this idea a year ago, and to see it now, I still can’t believe it sometimes. I’m so honored to work alongside such inspirational and passionate women. I wouldn’t want to go through this journey with anyone else. But most of all, thank you to our supporters, followers, clients, customers, and commu-nity for your aloha. I love you all! xoxo

This year has definitely been a learning experience for our growing company as well as myself. The main thing I learned this year is that I cannot go through life alone, although I push otherwise. With that, I would like to send my sincere gratitude towards my family. Mom and Chris, you know me to my core and I am thankful you know when to step in and help me and when to let me do my thing. Thank you for your words of encouragement and love, your warm hugs after long days, and non-stop laughs. Thank you to all friends and family who have supported For The Good since its conception and believed in our story.

Thank you to our For The Good Team for being so amazing! Thank you for being on board from the get-go and seeing our vision as we created it. Shout out to Celina for all your hard work and effort and for putting up with our sometimes ridiculous demands and to Ms. Tina for being the breath of fresh air half way through the year and letting us catch on to our infectious energy. Thank you to our whole team! We are beyond blessed to have you on this journey with us and we are extremely excited to make more strides together! Of course, thank you to my teammates/co-founders/co-dreamers/sisters, Richel and Chelsea. It all started with a dream and talks over French toast but it’s all coming to fruition and I can’t help but get a little choked up to realize how some dreams, goals, and hardwork could get us to where we only imagined. Certainly, thank you to my best friend, God, for being my strength and comfort during long, trying days.

Thank you to our followers, our partners, our supporters and everyone who just looked at our little blog and could hear the stories through posts and pictures. I am tumultu-ously humbled by your support and love and all I want to do is create an even bigger community FOR THE GOOD. I love you all!

Shout out to all the pear!

Being part of For the Good has been such an incredible experience that has really made my life more whole then I could have ever dreamed it could be. Not only have I been able to grow professionally but I've been able to grow so many personal aspects of my life. None of this could have been possible without the love and support of so many people. First, my family, who has been an incredible support system for me. They have helped us with our events and have pushed me through times where I thought I had no energy left to give. Next I need to thank my honey, who has always stood by me and supported my decisions. I can never say thank you enough for all the sacrifices you have made to allow me to be better. Lastly, the For The Good team, most especially my part-ners in crime and my soul sisters Mariah and Richel. I am so grateful for the love you guys have shown me and for pushing me to places I never thought I could ever be.

The first year may be over but we have the rest of our journey to grow. Thank you to everyone who has supported our dreams and helped us to become what we are today. I love you guys and appreciate you from the bottom of my heart!
