The Rewind Project
An HLF South East funded project to give people connected with Leonard Cheshire Disability an opportunity to learn more about the history of the charity and it’s place in disability history through photographs, film clips, and documents/journals. Concentrated on 7 LCD services in the South East:• Over 500 photographs• Archive films and oral histories• Entire run of the ‘Cheshire Smile’ – in-house
journal• Workshops within LCD services to create new
oral histories and engage people with archive material
• Website exhibition space to highlight themes and provide access

Photographs
• Just because you hold the ownership of material doesn’t mean you hold the copyright
• Initial selection based on how the photograph related to the project, not on whether we held copyright
• Not everything will be published online, but all photographs selected have been digitised for preservation purposes
• Copyright statements included in embedded metadata and descriptive metadata

• Around 21 films to be digitised (preservation)• Clips from films to be published online
• BFI – owners but not copyright holders
• Le Court Film Unit – copyright holders– Brian Line and Nick Dance
• Licencing from media outlets– News reports and the BBC
• Multiple copyright holders

• Contacted many major copyright-holders before digitisation
