USING THE LEARNINGFIELD IPAD APPLICATION
1. Logging in to the LearningField iPad Application
1. Locate and touch on the icon for the LearningField Application on your iPad
Sign in to LearningField:
2. Enter your school email address
3. Enter your LearningField password
4. Touch the green arrow to submit
Note: if you have not downloaded the iPad application, please see the LearningField
Support website for instructions to download.

2. Navigating the LearningField iPad Application Home Page
Your home page will display any groups that you are an owner/member of and the chapters
that are in those group libraries, as well as any chapters that you have added to ‘My library’.
Note: your homepage will appear blank if no content has been added using the web portal.
A. LearningField navigation menu (see section 2.1 for more detail)
B. Any groups that you are a member of, including groups that you are an owner of, are
displayed
C. My Library shows chapters that you have added to your library from the
LearningField web portal
D. Refresh your app to update any changes made in the web portal (e.g. new chapter
added) as well as any notes and discussions
E. Touch View group to go directly to your group home page. You can download
chapters from both the home page and your group home page
F. View all takes you to a full listing of chapters in your library

2.1 Using the LearningField navigation menu
The LearningField navigation menu is visible from every screen in the iPad app. Touch the
top middle of the screen to show or hide this view.
G. Home returns you to the home page
H. Library provides a view of all chapters in My Library and Group Libraries
I. Touch on Notebooks for quick access to any notes or highlights that have been
made in a chapter
J. Groups navigates the user to the Groups Homepage
K. Settings is where you can check the version of LearningField installed, and switch
users on a device if required. Note: Switching users will mean that any downloaded
material will need to be re-downloaded if the original user logs on again. All notes
and other annotations will be stored on the LearningField server.

3. Read a Chapter in your iPad App
1. Click the grey download button to download a chapter to your iPad. The green bar
indicates download progress
When the download is complete, to open the chapter:

4. Create a Group Discussion from the iPad
To create a group discussion, start in the LearningField home page:
1. Select the group you want to create the discussion in, and touch View group
2. Under the section Latest Group Discussions, touch Add discussion

3. Enter the Subject
4. Enter Text
5. Touch on Save
Discussion can now be viewed and responded to by all group members in the group
homepage under Latest group discussions by touching on the discussion title:

5. Create a Note in a Chapter
To create a note in a chapter:
1. Touch on the green bar to open a chapter from the LearningField home page
2. Press and hold the screen on the text where you want to take a note. You can use
the cursors to change the range of text selected. Touch Note in the panel above.
3. Enter note in the dialog box
4. Touch Please select to choose who can see the note

5. Select Just me or choose one of your groups to share your note with
Your note will be visible in the text by touching:
A. The note symbol in the margin, or
B. The Notes and highlights button at the top of the page
C. Change your view of notes and highlights at any time using the settings menu in the
top panel

6. Create a Page Note
To create a note in a chapter that is general to a page rather than a line of text:
1. Touch on the green bar to open a chapter from the LearningField home page
2. Touch the page note button
3. Enter the note details
4. Touch Visible to

5. Select note visibility as Just me or one of your groups
6. Save note
7. Note will be visible by touching the Notes and highlights button and in My Notebooks
(see section 8 for more details)

7. Create a Highlight
To create a highlight in a chapter:
1. Touch on the green bar to open a chapter from the LearningField home page
2. Press and hold the screen on the text where you want to take a note. You can use
the cursors to change the range of text selected. Touch Highlight in the panel above
3. Change your view of notes and highlights at any time using the settings menu in the
top panel

8. Viewing My Notebooks
LearningField creates a notebook for each chapter where you have created a note or
highlight in the text. You can navigate to your notebooks from any page by touching the
LearningField navigation menu.
1. From any page, touch the LearningField navigation menu
2. Touch the arrow to select the notebooks you wish to view
Note: if you haven’t created any notes in the text, the Notebooks option will be greyed out
3. Select the notebook you wish to view
The notebook including group notes, personal notes, and highlights will be displayed.
