2.
A bird is an animal that lays eggs. It has feathers and wings. Most birds can fly.
4.
Birds make good pets. They can live in a cage and be a happy friend. You can train your bird to sit on your hand or shoulder.
6.
Birds and cages come in different sizes. Cage bars should be close enough together so that your bird cannot push its head between the bars and hurt itself.
8.
The cage should be big enough inside for your bird to move and flyaround easily. There should be a cup for food and a cup for water.
10.
Your bird will need a perch at the end of the cage. Some birds enjoy looking in a mirror or ringing a bell with its beak.
12.
Birds are loving and clever pets. They are natural acrobats, and can do many interesting tricks on ladders and seesaws.
14.
Some birds can walk a tightrope, go through a tunnel, and push and pull toys. Some birds will ride in toy cars, trucks, or trains. Some birds can stand on one foot.
16.
Many birds can be trained to talk. It is best to start when the bird is only a few weeks old. Say the same word over and over until the bird repeats it. Then teach it another word.
18.
Birds make fine pets for a small home or an apartment. Birds can travel in their cages if you keep them in a safe place. Keep yourbird away from bright lights, loud noises, and windy or cold places.
20.
Before you get a bird, think about where the cage will be in your house. You will have fun caring for your bird. You will have fun playing with your bird.
