D Peter Immanuel, CEO took part in Industryinteraction lecture series organised by IAAA (Instituteof Aeronautics Astronautics and Aviation) at KalaignarInstitute of Technology, Coimbatore. He also had aninteraction with the management of the collegeadvocating the launch of skill programs along withAASSC. On the same day he addressed the heads anddeans of Nehru Group of Institutions highlighting thescope and possibility of launching aviation programs.

D Peter Immanuel, CEO & Chetan S, Manager(SAC) metthe officials of ISRO Bangalore to identify the needs ofISRO for capacity building in skilling in term of the JobRoles, the number of the trainees to be trained in a year,the location of the training and scaling up of the project.The following job 6 job roles of Aerospace under theManufacturing & Assembly subsector were identifiedfor Bangalore location.

PROJECT PROPOSALFROM ISRO

i) Aerospace Sheet Metal Technician, ii) Aerospace Welder iii) Aerospace Armament Technician iv) Aerospace Lab Technician Destructive Testing v) Aerospace Lab Technician NDT vi) Aerospace CNC Machinist The total requirement will be for training 480 candidates in a year in the pilot project.If the pilot project is successful, the project will be further scaled to six locations andother job roles in the next year. Assessment will be by the assessment agencyaccredited under AASSC. Certification will be jointly by ISRO, AASSC and theTraining Partner accredited to AASSC

Assessments were conducted for 30 students of AirlineCustomer Service Executive job role and 29 of AirlineReservations Agent for the training conducted by BirdAcademy at Chandigarh Multiskill Development Centre.The assessments were conducted on 19th Sep and 20thSep 2018 by Co-Cubes, an assessment body accreditedunder AASSC. 10 batches have passed-out so far and atotal number of 59 candidates were certified during themonth and so for 276 have been certified.

Assessments of candidates for GKN Aerospace CSRproject at P3 India Consulting Ltd., were conducted forthe Job Role of Aerospace Structural Engineer in thedesign & development subsector. The assessments ofthe 10 trained candidates were carried out on 25 Sep2018 at Bangalore at P3 India Consulting Ltd. It wasconducted by Formac Software Services Ltd, Bangalore,an accredited Assessment Body of AASSC.

Lufthansa Technic Services India Ltd isworking closely with AASSC on certain areas of skilldevelopment. Presently, both the entities are workingon the development/approval of a Qualifications Packfor the Job Role of ‘Aviation Materials ServiceExecutive’, which is widely used in the Aviation domainby the MRO & Airline companies.

The BRICS 2018 Future Skill Challenge, was held inJohannesburg from 29th Sep to 5th October, 2018. Onlyfew priority sectors were part of the event from Indiaand Aerospace & Aviation was one among them. India,through AASSC took part in 2 trades viz AircraftComposites Trade & Aircraft Sheet Trade. AASSC hadidentified 2 participants and 2 experts for the said event.AASSC thanks National Aerospace Laboratories fornominating the delegates.

The National Skill Competition for AircraftMaintenance trade commenced on 30 Sep 18, whichwas a week-long event. Wg Cdr Rajendran (retd) led theefforts on behalf of AASSC. Six participants wereshortlisted earlier for the National level competitionsfrom a total of twelve participants from all over India.Subsequently a ‘Boot Camp’ for training thesecandidates for the national level competitions wassuccessfully conducted from 20 Aug – 03 Sep 2018.Dueto the complexities involved in the conduct of skillcompetitions in ‘Aircraft Maintenance’ at one location,the event was conducted as follows.
