Overview

Content in a Documentum repository always resides within a cabinet, folder or container. Copying and pasting content leaves it in its original location, but puts a new copy (duplicate) in a different location.

Content that you are copying to another location in the repository is held in a temporary location called the Clipboard.

Security InfoYou must have READ permission to copy a file.

Shortcuts• For Mac, press

Shift and C on your keyboard.

• For PC, press Shift and V on your keyboard.

•   Right-click, or press Control (CTRL) and click, and then select Copy Here.

NOTES• You can copy a file multiple times into a folder. Documentum

will add Copy of in front of the file name. After the first copy, Documentum will number the copies, such as Copy (2) of File.

•  When you copy a file or folder to a new location, it remains on  the Clipboard, allowing you to copy to multiple locations. The file or folder will remain on the Clipboard until you add the new file or folder to the Clipboard or until you log out of Documentum.

•  When a file is copied, not all of its versions are copied. Only the selected version is copied. Other versions will remain in the original location. Often, the previous versions are not visible because, by default, only the CURRENT version is visible.

Security InfoA copied file inherits the permission set from its destination location.
