Hello Team, Mike Coppola

here. I bargained with the

Operations team to get a little

airtime on News In Advance

because I have an exciting

announcement. Advance Auto

Parts is beginning our 75th

yearof providing legendary service

to our customers.!

75 years.Just think about that.

Back then, a gallon of gas was

about a dime. Franklin

Roosevelt was elected president.

And the Yankees beat the Cubs

4 games to none in the world

series. And also in 1932, on

April 29th. Arthur Taubman

scraped up the money to start

Advance Auto Parts. He got

most of it by selling his car and

pawning his wifes engagement

ring. You know, there are a lot

of great stories to tell about Mr

Taubman. They say he alwaysimpressed customers with

attentive service and a hop to it

attitude. For example, when he

sold a tire, he would promptly

install it right on the curb in

front of the store. My guess is

that he also installed batteries

and wind shield wipers. Mr

Taubman is also quoted as

saying keep your store cleanand well merchandised, and take

such good care of the customer

that he has to come back to you

Sounds familiar, doesnt it?

Sounds to me like the

foundation of the 5 basics of

customer service from our

triangle. At Advance Auto Parts,we are always looking to the

future, but when milestones like

this come around, its a good

idea to take a look in the rear

view mirror, to see what got us

here.

Advance Auto Parts is now a

Fortune 500 company and weare still growing. But we have

never swayed from the early

values that Mr Taubman started

back in 1932. Thats why were

still here, and yes, still taking

such good care of our customers

that they have to come back to

us. Thank You Mr Taubman and

thanks to Nick Taubman,Garnett Smith, Larry Castellani

and all of the other leaders and

team members over the years

that have kept us on track .
