The Labyrinth Theatre Presents Rocket Man by Steven Dietz

Rocket Man is a thoughtful comedy. Donny Rowan has placed everything he owns on his lawn, along with a sign that reads: "Here's My Life. Make An Offer." Through the skylight in his attic he ponders the universe and the choices of his life from his reclining chair, staring at the stars. Somewhere out there, Donny believes, is a place where all the roads we never chose converge. ROCKET MAN explores this "parallel world" and the effect his journey has on his friends and family.

Notice: Rocket Man Cancelled Weekend of February 14th We regret to inform you that we have to cancel our performances of Rocket Man for this weekend, February 14 - 16. Sue Birch, cast member and founder of Theatre Britian, was called away to England this past Saturday for a family emergency and is unable to return this weekend.

In order to rehearse veteran performer Stephanie Wulfe Epstein in the role of Louise in the event that Ms. Birch cannot resume the role the following weekend, we have chosen to suspend the performances of Rocket Man this weekend.

Lyric Stage Steven Jones [email protected] http://www.lyricstage.org

Dear Lyric Stage Friend, Next up at Lyric Stage is Neil Simon and Marvin Hamlisch's hysterical musical THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG February 15-March 1 in the Irving Arts Center's Dupree Theater. In 1979, Broadway’s top comedy writer Neil Simon (The Odd Couple) teamed with Academy and Tony Award winning composer Marvin Hamlisch (A Chorus Line) and his then girlfriend lyricist Carole Bayer Sager, to write this funny, romantic musical comedy about an Academy Award winning composer and his relationship with a quirky, aspiring young female lyricist. THEY’RE PLAYING OUR SONG became a Broadway hit, running over 1,000 performances at the Imperial Theater. Lyric Stage Founding Producer Steven Jones saw the original Broadway production on his first trip to New York in August of 1979. "Lucie Arnaz and Robert Klein stopped the show cold with the title song. I have never seen an ovation like that anywhere" says Jones. For the Lyric Stage production, Stacia Goad Malone and Paul Taylor will play the unlikely lovers. They will be joined on stage by Chris Galvan, Kristi Rowan, Vernicia Vernon, C. Nicholas Morris, Michael Newberry and Rick Starkweather. Len Pfluger returns to Lyric Stage as director after his triumph as CAROUSEL choreographer. Scott A. Eckert is

music director. Wade Giampa will design sets with lighting by Susan A. White and costumes by Drenda Lewis. Performances are February 15, 16, 21, 22, 23, 28, 29 and March 1 @ 8:00 PM with matinees on February 17, 24 and March 1 @ 2:30 PM. Tickets are $23-$29 and available by calling the box office @ 972-252-2787 or online @ www.lyricstage.org. ORDER THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG TICKETS ONLINE NOW - CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO

Mark Lowry of the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram says, "Lyric Stage is North Texas' finest, and most important, musical theater company". We look forward to seeing you at THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG. Sincerely, Steven Jones Lyric Stage

From Rancor to Rapture: The Italian Songbook Mark your calendar for a special Valentine from Voces Intimae…

Join Voces Intimae in our second concert of the season for Hugo Wolf's Italienisches Liederbuch. The song-book of Italian folk poems explores every possible facet of love, from the ridiculous to the sublime, with drama inherent in every exquisite line. Don't miss this rare opportunity to hear Wolf's masterpiece in its en-tirety, sung in German, in an unconventional interpretation of these small but truly great gems of the art song repertoire.

Voces Intimae is the only chamber music group in the Metroplex founded to inspire the revival of Art Song in the North Texas region. The New York Times on the Italienisches Liederbuch: "...intimacy is a defining quality of this collection of 46 lieder, settings of anonymous Tuscan and Venetian love poems adapted into German by Paul Heyse. Wolf signals his intent in the first line of the opening song: ''Even little things can delight us.'' These lieder are art-ful miniatures...as Wolf takes us through a back-and-forth chronicle of a love affair that moves from smitten bliss to lovers spats to a rueful, sarcastic parting...." What is Cooperative Arts News?

The Mission: The CAN organization was created for the purpose of helping cooperative member arts organizations build audiences by supporting each other. CAN will send notifications to list members with news of member organizations' upcoming events and other arts news of interest. The Rules: 1. Since this is a "cooperative" of arts organizations supporting each other, member groups who

would like to post notices, agree to "receive" notifications from other member groups in return. Individuals will have the option at any time to "opt-out" if they choose not to receive future notifications by e-mailing the list manager.

2. In order to preserve the integrity and quality of the postings to this list and to prevent any unwanted "Spamming," all notifications that member groups want to send through this notification list must come through the list manager. Groups simply send an e-mail notification to the list manager with a descriptive write-up and it will be sent. If there are multiple notifications that need to go out, they may be grouped together to reduce the number of e-mails that are sent to the list.

If at anytime, you would like to be removed from this e-mail list or if you are a new organization that would like to join, please e-mail the list manager and your request will be acted upon in a timely manner.
