WHAT IS CONVERGING MEDIA? “It is the blending of multiple media
forms into one platform for purposes of delivering a dynamic experience.” (blog.distinctstudios.com/, 2013)
Technological convergence combines various platforms, typically voice, data & video, and evolves them into one product which performs similar tasks.
Technological and media convergence is the merging of two different technological systems, forming as one and evolving into being able to operate similar tasks together within one single product. Converging technology can refer to the prior separate technological functions, such as voice control, video or internet functions; being able to all merge and form together, to work as one simultaneously. This then becomes known as and would the definition of, a converging media product. Some examples of these converging media products are as follows below.

THE SMART TV A smart TV is the integration of both the
internet and television, merging as one.

FEATURES Since there is no actual industry
standard for Smart TVs in the current technological market as it is; not all Smart TVs are the same, in that they offer different platforms of apps and functions.
For example some Smart TVs may have more of an advantage and excel with TV functions such as on-demand apps and programs; whereas others may excel more with on-demand movies & box sets.

smartphone product; which incorporates both telephonic, web, music, video, photographic and app functions all in one device.
FEATURES Since the very first initial model of the
iPhone, the product itself has emerged quite evidently with its increased quality of uses and various functions & apps.
The iPhone is a complex and innovative device; which is in fact more like a mini hand held computer, rather than just a phone. As it has such a wide range of features within the device.

Facebook is a converging media product as it is a social networking site which allows you to connect & communicate with people over the internet; as well as being able to allow for people to store images and videos on their own profile.
FEATURES One of features which is implemented into the
site, is that you can actually take a video or a picture via your webcam on your computer – and then upload it straight on to Facebook.
Equally there are now apps available for various social media sites, which are available to download on to your phone. Allowing you to link your mobile to you account; therefore any notifications, messages etc. – Come straight to your phone and you can then access your account; Upload pictures, update comments and so on, conveniently and swiftly from the commodity of your mobile device.
