SettingsThe common settings for a supernatural thriller are often in abandoned houses and can be set nearly anywhere including a school or a person constantly on the road and traveling like in Ghost rider

Narrative DevicesMany narrative devices that are used and a common one used in most movies are voiceovers or flash backs which show the story or setup the rest of the story in the movie

CharactersThe characters are the same though most of the Thriller movies no matter what subgenre as there is always a hero and always a villain and some kind of weak and helpless victim that needs the help from the hero

ThemesThemes that thriller movies are often based on are often revenge or some super villain threatening to destroy the world only to always be stopped by the hero

Stylethrillers often have a very intense style unlike noir and most characters wear mostly modern clothing or super natural clothing like aliens and very strong sounds are used to build suspense to the movie on a build up in the movie where something exciting might be happening.
