Conventions of a Real life Media product!

Page 2: Conventions of a real life media product!

We decided to reject this convention as we wanted to get the message across through real life footage.

We also decided to have interviews in our documentary which put across the message in voice format.

We decided to have captions on footage such as safe and sound and summer sundae as shown on the side.

We decided to accept this convention and our whole documentary is made up of real footage.

Nothing within our documentary was staged and we felt that we were telling the truth by doing this.

All the events which took place in our documentary actually happened and that is a major convention of a media product.

Real Footage

We decided to reject this convention as we wanted our whole documentary to be of footage which was actually happening when producing the documentary.

We would have liked to use Archive footage such as CCTV footage however due to confidentiality reasons we were unable to obtain these and therefore we had to use real footage.

Archive footage/stills footage.

We had a total of 4 interviews and all these interviews were obtained on the 29th during the Safe and Sound exhibition.

This gave honest opinions about Leicester and we were fortunate enough to get an interview with an SMT and also an Ex Leicester City captain who gave his honest opinions about Leicester.

All of our interviewees were experts in a certain area to do with the force or heavily linked with Leicester.

The majority of our footage we took was through a handheld camera so therefore we accepted this convention.

The time lapse were done through a tripod however we didn’t take the tripod when we went on night time shoots.

This gave it a more realistic effect and shows how we stuck to our conventions.

We decided to accept this convention by using diegetic sound of the police cars. This was because we could not hear the sirens when we originally filmed them.

This also strengthen the message of how police officers are always on the ball and always arresting people.

We also decided to use a soundtrack produced by Alex and also able to secure copyright permission from Example.
