    Convection Heating

Convection heating is an excellent method of providing low-intensity

heat energy to a process medium. This heating method provides for

even temperature distribution across an entire coil surface. Common

applications include regeneration gas heating, natural gas heating,

air heating, ammonia heating, heating of temperature sensitive stocks

(ie: cooking oil, crude oil, asphalt, etc.), thermal fluid heating, steam

    superheating, and many others.

Due to the nature of convection heating, combustion chamber

temperatures are tightly controlled, and tube wall temperatures are

kept to a minimum. Heat up and cool down times are negligible,

and burner control can be process-based or heater-based for cyclical

operations. GTS convection heaters can be manufactured to meet

virtually any code requirement, including ASME, API, USCG, ABS, etc.

whats wrong with radiant heat transfer?

    n be advantageous in some systems;

ever, many processes demand a gentle

even introduction of heat. Radiant trans-

an be easily illustrated by standing in

sun and then promptly moving to a shady

. It is easy to understand how radiantgy is very line of sight oriented. Inside

ater, it is impossible to insure that every

of coil surface has the same exposure to

adiant energy. The result is uneven heat

sfer, from which hot spots develop in the

These hot spots can damage temperature

    itive process mediums and significantly

    ce tube life.

Virtually every aspect of the GTS

    Convection Heater can be manipulated

(ie: tube wall temperatures, row to row

    heat transfer, combustion chamber

temperature, etc.), making it the most

versatile heater on the market today.

    Control options are virtually limitless,

with both relay logic and programmable

    logic systems available.

Why Buy a GTS Convection heater?

GTS custom engineers each convection heater to your specific application. Process operating

temperatures can range from cryogenic to above 1100 o F and pressures from full vacuum

to 2500 PSIG. Heater coil configurations can be finned, bare, or a combination of both,

depending on your process requirements. In addition, a wide variety of coil materials can be

used to handle even the most challenging products. GTS offers systems that can meet the

most stringent emissions requirements, as well as ultra-high turndown burners for superior

    system control.

User interfaces can be as simple as lights and push buttons or as advanced as PC

based control. All electrical devices and systems are designed to meet NEMA

ratings for their specific environment, as well as third party approvals such as FM,

    GE/GAP, NFPA, and/or UL.

Our engineers are committed to helping you meet your process heating needs.

GTS has extensive experience in both domestic and international markets,

providing equipment and service support worldwide. For more information

and pricing, contact our applications engineers.

A forced draft burner projects a flame into an

insulated combustion chamber. A portion of the

flue gas is taken from the stack and routed to arecirculation fan. The recirculation fan introduces

exhaust gas around the outside of the burner sleeve.

This additional gas flow is calculated to precisely

control the combustion chamber temperature. By

properly mixing and cooling the combustion gasses,

radiant heat transfer is made to be negligible.

Convection range temperatures are seen evenly

across the entire coil cross section.
