From the beginning, creates high-quality solutions based on three pillars - energy efficiency imprvoment, technologies improvement and proven teams of employees. Equipment manufactured at Plum is examined both at the design stage and during production in the company's own laboratories: Accredited Laboratory, Laboratory of Heating (only heating industry sector), Electromagnetic Compatibility Laboratory, Laboratory for Fire Ventilation (only the ventilation). In terms of accreditation a Plum company issues a calibration certificate that is recognized in Poland and abroad.

Individual departments are located on an area of over 4 601 sq m. They are equipped with modern equipment according to the latest international trends. The confirmation of high quality, production and organisational standards is that Plum, as one of few Polish manufacturers of industrial electronics, has implemented an Integrated Quality Management System (ISO 9001), Occupational Health and Safety (BS OHSAS 18001) and Environmental Management System (ISO14001), certified by BSI (the British Standards Institution).

Strength of the dynamic development of the company is the experienced team of nearly 200 highly skilled professionals (including over fifty engineers and specialists in the fields of: electronics, mechanics, computer science). In the last three years, the company has employed nearly 100 people in order to increase its project potential and production.

Engineers, equipped with pro-fessional tools and software such as Protel and CAD, ensure optimalisation of electronic constructions.

Plum Production Department ensures the highest standards of organisation associated with the production of advanced electronic devices.

In order to ensure the highest quality, components and parts are bought from reputable Polish and European suppliers. The various stages of production are constantly supervised and coordinated by on-line computer control system (Enterprise Resource Planning). Thus each product coming to and leaving the production line is the optimal combination of quality, reliability and stability. The manufacturing division has a modern technological line for assembly and soldering.

Technology used here operates in a similar way to that of the mobile phone manufacturers. The process begins with the application of solder paste with the printer with automatic centering of the lens. Then the assembly of components is prepared automatically on the Swiss Essemtec machine with a capacity of 5 000 parts per hour. For precise mounting of SMD components we use the Cognex laser alignment vision system.

This enables high density and high miniaturization of components. The reflow process is performed in a multizone furnace FlowStar SEHO, which provides precise adjustment and maintenance of the soldering profile. The production technology in Plum is typified by great flexibility, the wide possibilities of rapid line set-up for the production of other devices. The end result of the automatic installation is not only high quality products, but also the possibility of fast implementation of various orders in a short time.

Method of protection against ESD

Measurement devices manufactured by Plum must meet high metrologic requirements. Such high measurement accuracy is ensured by the on-site Laboratory in which the devices are tested as well as by the on-site Verification Point for sclaes which check the conformity of appliances with the provisions of legal metrology. The Laboratory is equipped with test pieces and measurement devices of the highest accuracy, which enable the achievement of high measuring capacity. Its competences are confirmed by an accreditation number. AP 074, by the Polish Centre for Accreditation.

Assembled and running devices are tested in the Production Laboratory where they pass the tests in climate and temperature chambers. The whole process is computer controlled. All products are subject to automatic and temperature tests, which guarantee detection of all defects resulting from the production process and contributes to still greater reliability of devices.

Storage and production take place in areas equipped with specialised equipment and protection against ESD. This ensures the reduction of negative electrostatic impact on the component’s life. This type of protection is essential to ensure the reliability of the final product. In Plum effective electrostatic countermeasures are applied, such as special flooring, shelving, packaging equipment, personal protective equipment - clothing, shoes, gloves.

The Heating Technology Laboratory is one of the 5 Labora-tories run by Plum Ltd; it benefits from vast experience and world class research equipment and thus it gives its partners a significant competetive advantage on the market. The basic idea behind activities of the Laboratory is to enable boiler and fireplace manufacturers test their products with the precisely tailored algorithms of Plum regulators – thus ensuring optimalisation of combustion processes.

The Plum ccoperation system enables the testing of algo-rithms and other tests with Plum partner devices and parallel adjustments introduced to automation devices. Such an approach guarantees individual selection of the algorithm and the function to any given heating device. A significant benefit arising from cooperation is the possibility to modify software in process, via Internet, by commercial partner of the Plum Company – using the ecoLink module. It creates tremendous opportunities during the development of new products. The infrastructure of the Laboratory consists of 5 research work stations with equipment including SIEMENS combustion fumes analyser, professional Nova 2000 analys-ers manufactured by German company MRU, hydraulic systems of various type (with buffers and mixing valves). The Laboratory enables:

The Heat Technology Laboratory cooperates with the Institute of Control and Computation Engineering at the Technical University of Warsaw designing modern algorithms for operation of regulators. Mutual exchange of knowledge and experience between the Laboratory and personnel of the University results in common research projects for the developement of new regulators.

Fire place lab: we carry out works consisting in precise adjustment of automation parameters to the selected fire place technology in the lab where we test Plum partner fire places. The results of this process include burning process optimisation, automation and fire place compatible interfacing and a number of interesting and useful functionalities available to the user.

ecoSOL 150 controller is a modern electronic differential temperature control-ler that is used to conduct heat from solar collectors to the domestic hot water tank.

The main task of the controller is to control the solar circuit sets according to data obtained from temperature sensors, to enable recovery of most of the energy from the collector.

ecoSOL 200 controller (available in CLASSIC and BASIC versions) is one of a new generation of electronic devices, the function of which is to control the solar circuit sets according to the data obtained from the temperature sen-sors, so it is possible to recover most of the energy from the collector.

The controller supports 11 different solar schemes. Connects up to 4 PT1000 sensors and two pumps - circulation and heating, or three-way valve. It has a smooth regulation of the circulation pumps.

The energy yield of heat produced is shown. This enables you to monitor en-ergy saved. An additional benefit from use of the controller is its attractive, modern design and intuitive operation.
