What is NCC ? The National Cadet Corps (Hindi:

) is the Indian military cadet corps with its Headquarters at New Delhi. It is open to school and college students on voluntary basis. The Cadets are given basic military training in small arms and parades. The officers and cadets have no liability for active military service once they complete their course but are given preference over normal candidates during selections based on the achievements in the corps.

History of NCC The NCC in India was formed with the National

Cadet Corps Act of 1948. It was raised on 15 July 1948 (NCC DAY) The National Cadet Corps can be considered as a successor of the University Officers Training Corps (UOTC) which was established by the British Government in 1942 The National Cadet Corps Act was accepted by the Governor General and on 15 July 1948 the National Cadet Corps came into existence.

Structure of NCC

Aim of NCC To provide a suitable environment to motivate

the youth to take up a career in the armed forces. To develop qualities of character, courage, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and the ideals of selfless service amongst the youth of the country. To create a human resource of organized, trained and motivated youth, to provide leadership in all walks of life and be always available for the service of the nation.

Contribution in Nation Building Contribution is a part played by somebody or

something in causing a result . NCC itself is a contribution in Nation

Building NCC contributes the nation building through

its ACTIVITIES like training programs, camps, social services and etc

objectives for which it was established.As an organisation, the NCC has been able to produce many top political leaders, bureaucrats, generals, admirals, air marshals, doctors, engineers, media and film personalities, business barons in short, leaders in all walks of life. The NCC has been doing enormous work towards nation-building.

NCC cadets from different backgrounds represent a Mini India : Vice President Ansari 6 January 2011Addressing the cadets after inaugurating the NCC Republic Day Camp 2011 here, vice President Ansari said: The cadets hailing from different parts of the country, with different linguistic and religious background, represent a Mini India . The rigorous discipline the NCC cadets are put through is very useful training of both the body and the mind.
