Contractual Obligations Radiology School Professionalism Day

Working Hours
As you have a duty of care to patients you may occasionally be required to work above and beyond the basic contracted hours to ensure safe patient care.
Host Trusts
Although trainees are employed by the Lead Employer Trust, you have
- A duty to your Base Hospital Trust
- A responsibility to your Medical Director
- A duty to follow all Trust Policies; as well as LET policies
Resignations
3 month notice requirement (inclusive of End of Contract/CCT)
Although you will have a Period of Grace you are still required to resign
3 months prior to end of contract you should contact your HR Officer and either resign or request your Period of Grace
After submitting your resignation, if there are any delays to your new post this will not automatically lead to an extension of your notice period.
You will need to contact your HR Officer to discuss any possible extensions.
Leave Arrangements
ALL time out of the department must be covered by leave; - Annual Leave - Study Leave
- Compassionate Leave - Maternity/Paternity Leave
- Sick Leave
Any leave queries can be discussed by contacting your HR Officer
Study Leave
This must be applied for
(Including Regional Teaching Courses; Exams; Private Study; Projects etc.)
Only the Study leave co-ordinator can sign the forms off; although permissions from the of Department must be sought.
Sick Leave
All sickness must be reported to the Lead Employer Trust HR and the Radiology Department as soon as possible.
On call cover for the first 48 hours of sick leave is required within contract and does not attract locum payment
Out of Programme
If a trainee chooses to work outside of the Deanery or hospitals on their training scheme their salary will not follow them; e.g. Out of Programme Experiences; Training; Research
Any requests for Out of Programmes must be discussed with the Training Programme Director and the Dean.
There is a formal application process which is lead by Speciality Training at the Deanery
Less Than Full Time Training
Includes both Flexible Part-Time Training and Job (Slot) Share arrangements
Trainees must apply and receive approval to train less than full time
There is a formal application process; application forms can be requested and sent by the Lead Employer Trust
Inter Deanery Transfers
Requests are made through an application process via Speciality Training at the Deanery
Applications are made to the Dean
Who to talk to if things go wrong
- Try to resolve at Departmental Level - Training Programme Director
- Head of School - Speciality Director at the Deanery
- Dean- Lead Employer Trust HR
- Trust HR
Allegations of serious bullying should be raised with the Lead Employer Trust HR
