INTRODUCTION This comparison is provided to you by your Negotiating Committee as we approach the amendable date of the UPA. The intent of this comparison guide is to help you get a better view of how the UPA compares to the other carriers in our industry. By having this information you will be able to make informed decisions in upcoming surveys and MEC polling. This comparison guide compares the UPA to the following carriers: Alaska, American, Delta, FedEx, Frontier, Hawaiian, JetBlue, Southwest, Spirit and UPS.
This comparison guide is the continued evolution of versions created by the Allied Pilots Association, Southwest Airlines Pilots Association and Delta ALPA. A great deal of cooperation has taken place to ensure that each collective bargaining agreement is being represented factually. This document is based contractual language and not company practices with the exception of JetBlue. JetBlue is negotiating its first agreement and the details contained in this guide are based on the Pilot Employee Agreement and the Flight Scheduling Manual. Representatives from each property have been consulted with to validate the information being presented to you in this document. While this is a comprehensive overview of each contract, it is only a generalization of the other agreements, and not intended to be a primary source document for interpretation of contract language.
Special Notes
FedEx Pay rates extend out to 15 years
JetBlue Pilot Employee Agreement and Flight Scheduling Manual information presented

COMPANY CONTRIBUTION GROWTH CHARTS Charts depict the retirement growth of a pilot starting their employment January 1st 2016. All charts are based solely on company contributions. No pilot deferred compensation has been added. At properties that have a 401(k) match the full match value is included, but the pilot contribution has not been included for consistency. Charts assume no profit sharing. Contributions are based on the pilot crediting 1,000 hours per year. An annualized growth rate of 8% was used. Only current known pay rate increases have been included. Compensation over the IRS limit of $270,000 is not included.

SUMMARY
2017 EARNINGS COMPARISON The data in the following table and chart represent the earnings of Captain with 15 years of longevity crediting a total of 1,000 hours for the year. Trip Credit was calculated by simply subtracting the amount of vacation and training credit from 1,000 hours. Vacation credit bank value was used in calculating the vacation pay with an exception for JetBlue. For JetBlue four weeks of vacation was used. Four days of recurrent training was used to calculate the value of training. While this is not the ideal way to capture the value of vacation and training for airlines that do not use PBS, it is a means of representing a dollar value. Profit Sharing is based is calculated using 2016 pay rate and 1000 credit hours. Premium pay, International override and Night pay are not included. Defined Contribution/401(k) values represent the company contributions based on the pilot qualifying for full company match (were required).
