develop a working relaonship. Absent an agreement for Contract 2019, on March 31, 2020,PWA Secon 28 mandates that both ALPA and Delta solicit the NMB for mediaon services. Overview of C2019 Rerement ProposalThis week the Negoang Commiee (NC) released Negoators’ Notepad #19-09 , which givesan overview of ALPA’s C2019 rerement proposal, a cornerstone of C2019 negoaons. Over twoyears of research and preparaon by the NC, MEC, R&I Commiee, the R&I Working Group, andin consultaon with outside rerement industry experts, led to the rerement conceptscontained within ALPA’s PWA Secon 26 proposal, which calls for improvements which willbenefit all Delta pilots. Negoators’ Notepad #19-09 gives a broad overview of the rerement enhancements ALPA isseeking. In order to assist pilots in understanding these proposed rerement concepts, a newseries of rerement educaonal pieces will begin in January. Addionally, a new round ofRerement Roadshows will begin in early 2020. In the meanme, pilots are encouraged toreview the C2019 R&I Contract Preparedness educaonal series for background informaon.

As soon as able, we will report on addional feature enhancements coming.

Electronic Cabin Logbook Update The IT Commiee received an update on the Electronic Cabin Logbook project last week. It isexpected that the flight aendants will enter a cabin discrepancy on their electronic device. Thatreport will be sent via F999A to the ground and then via F999A to our iPads in the cockpit. Wewill accept and approve the discrepancy and then forward it on to the Maintenance ControlCenter (MCC) in the OCC. This acon will generate the ACARS report currently generated whenwe enter the Fault Code and Locaon Code off their sheet they pass under the door. At the

Page 4: CONTRAC T NEGOTIATIONS

Be sure to connect to ACpower and Wi-Fi first, then update the OS by navigang to Sengs | General | Soware Update| Download & Install. The new OS features enhanced performance including:

SAFETY SHORT

Aer Landing Runway Crossings

Page 5: CONTRAC T NEGOTIATIONS

ASAP reports and ATC feedback are showing crews are failing to be completely clear of therunway before stopping to handle expected threats or slowing to coordinate ramp entries. Many of the airports we operate into require one or mulple runway crossings aer landing totaxi to the gate. Most runway crossings are briefed accordingly in the NATS briefing andsuccessfully migated thousands of mes each day. Occasionally, regardless of expected threatbriefings, an unexpected distracon arises at an inopportune moment usually just prior to orduring a runway crossing. A cabin chime just as the crossing is iniated is a goodexample. Thoughpotenally important, this necessitates good threat and error management to handle. However, creang me would dictate compleng the runway crossing with both pilots being alert fortraffic and monitoring the appropriate ATC frequency before stopping to answer the cabin chime.

The AIM 4-3-20 reminds us “An aircra is considered clear of the runway when all parts of theaircra are past the runway edge and there are no restricons to its connued movementbeyond the runway holding posion markings. In the absence of ATC instrucons, the pilot isexpected to taxi clear of the landing runway, even if that requires the aircra to protrude into orcross another taxiway or ramp area. Once all parts of the aircra have crossed the runwayholding posion markings the pilot must hold unless further instrucons have been issued.” This may also include joining a parallel taxiway to ensure the aircra is clear of the runwaybefore stopping. With the aircra safely stopped and the parking brake set, a clear division ofdues can occur with one pilot addressing the cabin situaon and one communicang effecvelywith ATC. Oen, the investment of a few extra seconds pays dividends when migang manyrunway crossing threats.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP)

Page 6: CONTRAC T NEGOTIATIONS

EAP, Your Medical Cerficate and ALPA ResourcesThe EAP is a confidenal counseling, assessment and referral service to support all Deltaemployees and eligible family members in successfully managing work and personal issues. Itprovides free, unlimited telephone access to professional counselors who can provideassessment and short-term problem-solving assistance. Addionally, limited face-to-facecounseling sessions are available for behavioral health, financial and legal maers. However, any behavioral health counseling for pilots carries serious implicaons for our medicalcerficates and must be approached with great respect and care. Consider the following:

The MEC's Aeromedical Commiee and Pilot Assistance Network (PAN) works with pilotsto help us protect us health and our license. ALPA's Aviaon Medical Advisory Service (AMAS) can work directly with pilots and ourmedical providers to make sure treatment notes, diagnoses, and medicaons are all bestaligned with the FAA's strict rules and reporng requirements.

While the EAP may be good for some employees, your MEC encourages you to call PAN firstand talk about your opons. You can reach PAN at 1-800-USA-ALPA, opon 7.

AIR TRAFFIC SERVICES UPDATE

ATS Commiee Visits FAA FaciliesThe ATS Commiee parcipated in three FAA facility visits last week. The meeng at SoCalTracon was between ATS, Del Ray Sector NATCA, FAA Procedures and Support Specialist. Thiswas an excellent meeng where we openly discussed our issues and trends we've seen over thelast six months.

Two members of the ATL ATC Commiee visited ATL Tower and ATL Approach (A80) last week inpreparaon for the "All Hands Meeng" in February. One of our discussions with ATL Tower wastrying to schedule some of their controllers into Delta's simulators. Even though simulator meis expensive, it is a valuable asset in which both pilots and controllers get to interact with eachother to learn each person's roles. The primary discussion with the visit to A80 was movingforward with EOR, RNAV and RNP approaches into ATL. Please [email protected] with any quesons.
