PEll liFEtimE EliGiBilitY limitThe duration of a student’s eligibility to receive a Federal Pell Grant is 12 full-time semesters (or its equivalent). The calculation of the duration of a student’s

eligibility will include all years of the student’s receipt of Federal Pell Grant funding. Once a student has received a Federal Pell Grant for 12 full-time semesters (or its equivalent) the student will no longer be eligible for a Federal Pell Grant for future semesters. There is no appeal process for this limit

HiGH scHool Graduation rEquirEmEnts Students who do not have a high school diploma or a recognized equivalent (e.g., GED), or do not meet the home school requirements, will not be eligible to receive Federal student aid. Students may qualify for Federal student aid under one of the Ability-to-Benefit Test (ATB) alternatives IF the student was enrolled in a Federal student aid eligible program prior to July 1, 2012. The ATB alternatives include the student pass-ing an independently administered, approved ATB test or successfully completing at least six credit hours of postsecondary education.

ImportantRulesFinancial aid rEPEat coursE PolicYThe Department of Education has set a limit on the number of times a course can be repeated before it is excluded from a student’s enrollment status for finan-cial aid purposes. Once a student receives passing credit for a course, that course can only be repeated one more time to be included in the enrollment sta-tus for a financial aid disbursement. For purposes of this regulation, a “passing grade” is considered a D- or better. Any course for which a student is enrolling for a third time after having received a passing grade will not be included in the enrollment status for financial aid purposes. Please note: the restriction applies only to instances when the student receives a passing grade for the course; students are allowed to repeat courses without a limit for financial aid consideration for any failed or withdrawn course until a passing grade is received. Once a passing grade is received, the above policy will apply.**The above repeat course policy applies only to determining a student’s enrollment status for the disbursement of financial aid and is separate from the institutional academic policy regarding admittance for enrollment into repeated courses**
