DECEMBER

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT- A PILLAR AT

KENAFRIC

KAIZEN

“If you don't know where you are going, any road will take you there”

- George Harrison

“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.” ~Gandhi |

Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man

of value-Albert Einstein

“Make each day your masterpiece.” ~John Wooden

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do

are in harmony.” Mahatma Gandhi

“You must not only aim right, but draw the bow with all your might.”

~Henry David Thoreau

Success is going from failure to failure without losing your

enthusiasm.” ~Winston Churchill

Sometimes it's the smallest decisions that can change your life

forever- Keri Russell

Happiness is not achieved by the conscious pursuit of happiness; it

is generally the by-product of other activities (Aldous Huxley)

The right way is not always the popular and easy way. Standing for

right when it is unpopular is a true test of moral character- Margaret

Chase Smith

The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack

of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will-Vince

Lombardi

Objective of Hansei:

• Not to hurt that individual but to help that individual improve

• Not to hurt the program but to show flaws to improve the next program.

• No matter how good a program or a presentation someone makes, there is always something that can

be improved.

• It gives an opportunity to improve – it is the heart of kaizen

Hansei at Toyota.

The emphasis is on what went wrong and on creating clear plans for ensuring that it does not reoccur – and

this is done constantly and consistently.

At Toyota, even if you do a project successfully, there is still a hansei-kai (reflection meeting) to review what

went wrong.

If a manager or engineer claims that there were not any problems with the project, they will be reminded that

“no problem is a problem” – in other words, you haven’t objectively and critically evaluated the project to find

opportunities for improvement.

KAIZEN PRINCIPLES

HANSEI TOOL

HANSEI DEFINED

反省 – Hansei: "self-reflection" it can also be termed as "learning from

Experience & growing"

Three Elements of Hansei:

1. The individual must recognize that there is a problem – a gap

between expectations and achievement – and be open to negative

feedback.

2. The individual must voluntarily take personal responsibility and feel

deep regret.

3. The individual must commit to a specific course of action to improve.

Hansei Process.

Without hansei it is impossible to have kaizen.

In Japanese hansei, when you do something wrong, at first you must

feel really, really sad. Then you must create a future plan to solve that

problem and you must sincerely believe you will never make this type of

mistake again.

Hansei is a mindset, an attitude. Hansei and kaizen go hand in hand.

ACTIVATIONS CONFECTIONERY: BRAND PENETRATION IN THE MARKET THROUGH HAWKERS

HIGHLIGHTS:

The confectionery sales and marketing teams set out to work with

hawkers on the following:

Initiating a mechanism to promote the sale of newly launched

MAGICAL MINT

Gathering insight on how to involve hawkers in sale of FRESH

Kenafric joined forces with hawkers from Pangani to agree on sales plans for mutual benefit

The team demonstrates their approval of Magical Mint

A summary of the plan details is as follows:

11 hawkers were picked for the pilot.

Sufficient cartons of MAGICAL MINT, packed in 500g and 1kg packets would be availed at a stock point in Pangani.

Every time one of the 11 hawkers buys a 1kg packet of MAGICAL MINT at the stock point, he/she is given a token (a numbered plastic card).

When an individual hawker accumulates 5 of such tokens, he/she returns them to the wholesaler and is given an extra 1kg packet by Kenafric’s sales supervisor in Pangani area.
