Luren Precision was initially established for manufacturing and researching gear cutting tools. This technology was first developed by the Mechanical Industrial Research Laboratories at the Industrial Technology Research Institute in Hsinchu, Taiwan. In 1995 Luren built the first production line for hobs and shaving cutters. In 1996 Luren was already supplying gear cutting tools to many international markets, such as Europe, America, and Asia. all new LGA-2812 CNC Continuous Generating Gear Grinding Machine. LGA-2812 is built on a Reishauer NZA, AZA machine base, utilizing an advanced Siemens Sinumerik 840D CNC controller, high speed workpiece spindle, and grinding wheel spindle. Luren's highly efficient generating gear grinding and impressive gear grinding results are achieved by implementing a Luren designed and created gear grinding software which acts as an interface between Luren grinding machine and the Siemens 840D controller. Minimal CNC experience is necessary to operate this machine.

Axis Descriptions

■ LGA-2812 is built on a Reishauer NZA, AZA machine base. This type of base has been used for many decades with exceptional results. The high rigidity of this type of base considerably adds to the overall performance of the LGA-2812.

■ LGA-2812 is equipped with the most advanced Siemens CNC controller available and the high precision electronic gear box module supplied by Siemens. Also integrated in the machine are an 8-axis close-loop servo control system and a direct drive motor such that all axes move simultaneously and very accurately.

■ LUREN's intelligent gear grinding software is a Windows-based interface which has been carefully designed to support the complete grinding process. The operator does not need comprehensive CNC training to operate the LGA-2812 since Luren's grinding software interfaces with the Siemens CNC controller to calculate all the necessary data to complete the CNC program.

Windows-based Operating SystemLuren engineered smart dialogue Windows-based gear grinding software was developed to operate through a Microsoft Windows system. This allows the operator to have the flexibility to make changes that would otherwise be very difficult to accomplish in the confines of the supplied CNC interface. The grinding process is easily edited by the use of the mouse and the keyboard.

Dressing DeviceEquipped with a single diamond profile rotary dresser, the dressing device is suitable for multi-threads which can raise the accuracy of the profile and production efficiency.

Tooth Flank ModificationThe tooth flank modification module provides a convenient way to adjust the gear flank curve by using the mouse on the curve itself or to input the new value in its designated field. This allows for quick and easy modifications within Luren's software.

Conversational Interface Windows-based Software

LGA-2812 is equipped with high speed spindles. The workpiece spindle can operate up to 600 rpm and the grinding wheel spindle can reach up to 5,000 rpm. Together they work in concert to increase gear production efficiency and accuracy. Meanwhile, the built-in automatic dynamic balancing system acts to reduce deviation caused by dressing or grinding.

Software Technology

Luren's generating grinding software includes gear data input, tooth flank modification, tool setting, corrections, and machining process edit ing. Each of these categories offers in te rac t ive d ia logues and error feedback for program assistance. The operator can eas i l y add the necessary gear data and the grinding requirements to visually see the grinding program created. After completing the required information in the Luren software all of the NC process steps will be generated automatically. This allows operators to run the machine with little to no CNC experience, an amazing benefit for such an advanced machine.

Machining ProcessMachining process module allows operators arrange actual work schedule easily by clicking and dragging the items that the operator is looking to change. This final grinding plan can also be saved for future use.

Tool SettingThe tools setting module covers all machining tools such as grinding worm, rotary dresser, etc. To complete this step the operator only needs to input the tool data and store the data. This is a very convenient way to avoid tooling management mistakes that can contribute to machine down time.

CorrectionsThe corrections module can effectively eliminate installation errors due to operator error in the set-up of work piece, grinding wheel or worm wheel. The operator can enter the grinding correction value obtained from the on-board measurement system to produce a high quality finely ground gear.
