• Describe antecedents of compassion fatigue

• Highlight factors influencing compassion fatigue

• Demonstrate actions that can mitigate compassion fatigue

• Identify safe and effective alternatives to long-term oral anticoagulation

• Evaluate proven stroke risk reduction options by the use of WATCHMAN

• Apply pre, intra, and post procedure nursing care while recognizing potential complications

• Identify patient populations at great risk for hemorrhagic shock

• Describe the normal/abnormal dynamic clotting parameters of thromboelastography (TEG) and propose treatment using an algorithm

• Strategize treatment options involving actual cases of hemorrhage involving trauma, neurosurgery, GI bleeding, and obstetrics

• Describe the relation between critical illness, delirium and cognitive impairment

• Develop a protocol to attempt to minimize the degree of delirium and cognitive impairment associated with critical illness and critical care

• Review the epidemiology and infection control measures for some common and/or serious healthcare associated infections

• Recall a personal experience from a Hoag Patient survivor and value the role nurses play in healing and survivorship during critical illness
