Professional Certi�cate in Forensic Psychology
School of Social Science Graduate Program in Counseling Psychology
The Doctoral Counseling Psychology Program, Universidad del Turabo of the Ana G. Méndez University System has been awarded by the American Psychological Association approval to provide continuing education.The program maintains responsibility for the program and its content.
The Post -Graduate Professional Certi�cate in Forensic Psychology will train students in the Forensic Mental Health Assessment Model espoused by Best Practices in Forensic Mental Health Assessment Series, Oxford press in collaboration with the American Academy of Forensic Psychology. The Forensic Psychology program will train students in advanced skills and competencies required for assessments performed in legal referrals. The program will address the principal competencies in civil and criminal litigation will beaddressed.
Graduates of the Certi�cate in Forensic Psychology will master the theory and knowledge base in Forensic Psychology in civil and criminal proceedings. Training in the admission of expert testimony in civil and criminal issues will be addressed. The program will o�er training at the level of the “Best Practice Standard”.
Application and AdmissionRequirements:
Students will have the option of specializing in either criminal or
civil forensic cases or both. The student's selection will depend
on their professional interests and scope of professional practice.
Criminal track: course requirements are: Psychology & Law:
Criminal (3 credits); Forensic mental health assessment (FMHA)
(4 credits); and Psychology & Law: Expert Testimony (4 credits).
Civil track: course requirements are: Psychology & Law: Civil
(3 credits); FMHA (4 credits); and Psychology & Law: Expert
Testimony (4 credits).
Criminal and Civil tracks: course requirements are: Psychology
& Law: Civil (3 credits); Psychology & Law: Criminal (3 credits);
FMHA (4 credits); and Psychology & Law: Expert Testimony
(4 credits).
1. Transcript of credits with certi�cation of completion of at least a Master’s degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology.
2. Have a current valid license to practice psychology in Puerto Rico. 3. Negative Certi�cate of Penal Record. Calendar and Costs: Courses will be held on Saturdays from 9am to 4pm. Course: Psychology and Law: Criminal $750.00 45 hours (Jan 24 to March 14, 2015) Course: Psychology and Law: Civil $750.00 45 hours (March 21 to May 16, 2015) Course: Forensic Mental Health Assessments: $1,000.00 45 hours lecture/15 hours’ practicum (May 23 to June 27 and August 2 & 9, 2015) Course: Psychology and Law: Expert Testimony $850.00 45 hours lecture/15 hours’ practicum (August 22 to Dec 5, 2015).

Refund policy: 100% refund if student withdraws 10 days prior to the 1st day of class. Ninety percent (90%) on the �rst day of class and 75% refund if student withdraws on the 2nd class day.No other refunds will be made.
Students must approve all course requirements and
practicums, in addition to attending at least 80% of each course / subject to receive the corresponding subject/course certi�cate indicating the amount of hours attended.
Students may opt to take either or both of the �rst 2 courses
without proceeding to complete the full program. The Expert
testimony course requires prior approval of the Forensic Mental Health Assessment course.
The Forensic Psychology certi�cate will be awarded only to
students completing one of the three (3) curriculum tracks.
