PMA 2020: Family Planning, Water Sanitation and
Hygiene (WASH)
PMA2020 uses innovative mobile technology to support low-cost, rapid-turnaround
surveys to monitor key indicators for family planning and water, sanitation and hygiene
(WASH). The project is implemented by the local university and research organizations in
11 countries, deploying a cadre of female resident enumerators trained in mobile-assisted
data collection. PMA2020/India is implemented by the Indian Institute of Health
Management Research (IIHMR) in Jaipur, with the endorsement and technical support
provided by the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS) and the Ministry of
Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW). Overall direction and support is provided by the Bill
and Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health and the Johns
Hopkins University Water Institute and at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public
Health through a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Alumni Get Together, Ahmedabad, September 6, 2017:
With a vision to strengthen the alumni network, IIHMR university organized an interactive session
with Dr. Vivek Bhandari, President, IIHMR University for our Alumni in Gujarat. The meet was at
Hotel Country Inn, Ahmedabad. A good number of Alumni working in various sectors like Health,
Hospital and Pharmaceuticals across Gujarat were a part of this special dinner hosted by IIHMR
University for their Alumni in Gujarat. Here are a few glimpses of it:

Classical Music Concert at IIHMR
University
SPIC Macay Concert of Ustad Sabir Khan at IIHMR University Jaipur.
Sabir Khan belongs to Sikar Gharana (school) of music who have given
several stalwarts to Indian Classical Music. Born in Jodhpur, Rajasthan
to sarangi player and vocalist Ustad Sultan Khan, he trained under his
father and his uncle, Ustad Nasir Khan. He is the ninth generation to
take up Sarangi. His technique of playing is a rare combination of sur
and laya (note and rhythm). He has played in several feature films like
Chameli, Rog, Dor, Anwar, Sanwariya and Jodha Akbar and private
albums.
World Hepatitis Day
To increase awareness about Hepatitis, students of MBA Hospital and
Health Management performed a skit on World Hepatitis Day at
IIHMR University Campus.

Medical Colleges in Strengthening
Initiative Under National Urban Health
Mission
Regional workshop on "Medical Colleges (west zone) in Strengthening
Initiative Under National Urban Health Mission organized by National
Health Systems Resource Center or Ministry of Health and Family
Welfare, Government of India at IIHMR University in collaboration
with International Institute of Health Management Research, Delhi.
Launch of Certificate Programme in Rural
Livelihood
Bharat Rural Livelihoods Foundation (BRLF) was set up by the
Government of India as an independent society under the Ministry of
Rural Development, to scale up civil society action in partnership with
the central and state governments. On Oct. 4, 2017, IIHMR University in
collaboration with BRLF, inaugurated its second batch for “Certificate
Programme in Rural Livelihoods - A capacity Building Initiative for Tribal
Rural Professionals.” Course students would be traveling to 7 states in
the course duration, i.e., Maharashtra, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar
Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan for learning with a practical
approach.
IIHMR University Celebrates Its 33rd
Foundation Day
IIHMR University celebrated 33rd Foundation Day on October 5,
2017. There were many cultural activities in this ceremony. On this
auspicious day, Dr. Vivek Bhandari (President, IIHMR University)
inaugurated the new version of IIHMR University website
www.iihmr.edu.in.
The event also witnessed an award presentation ceremony for the
employees who have completed his/her 20-year tenure with IIHMR
University.
