Coaching Philosophy

• To empower young women to become the best that they can be at whatever they set their sights on by using sport to develop the skills to succeed.– Learning how to set goals, prioritize, give and receive performance

appraisals, make commitments and to strive for personal improvement while contributing to a competitive team environment

– Learning to overcome obstacles and how to use your role in a group to maximize your personal as well as the teams growth.

– Staying focused on the process of improvement and achieving excellence in balance with performance

Coaching Philosophy

Translates into the following expectations:

– Attendance at practices, conditioning, classroom sessions and tournaments is mandatory even when injured

• Illness: contact coach and via email

– Commitments & priorities• Communicate with coaches to resolve conflicts

– Attitude• Team before self is necessary for group success and learning to articulate personal

concerns in a positive and constructive manner is essential in a group environment

Training Expectations

Practice schedule

• 3 days a week of on court work (6.5 hours) • 2 days of conditioning, ( 2hours), scheduling is currently being looked

at, effort will be made to have sessions before or after on court work.• Occasional 1 hour classroom session. Times to be determined with

athletes• Arrive 10 minutes before schedules activities

Gym Facilities – cleaner than when we entered• Athletes responsible for set up and take down• No one leaves until everything is away

Playing time– Is at the discretion of the coach as per Bison Club Policy

Playing Time

Club Policy– Every player shall receive fair playing time– Fair playing time does not mean equal– Deemed to be 40-60% during regular season– Can be modified based on attendance at practice, attitude, injuries, and team composition and needs– During provincial and national championships playing time is at the discretion of the coach

Personal Approach of Head Coach– Tournaments are divided into 3 Levels

• Level 1 – Participation based. All efforts will be made to ensure equal playing time within your position. Ie; all middles get the same amount of playing time.

• Level 2 - All players will start and complete either the first or second set. If the game goes to a third set the line up is at the discretion of the coach.

• Level 3 - The guidelines for a level 2 tournament will be followed during pool play, play off line ups will be at coaches discretion and will be role based; ie someone may have the role in play offs of going in to serve and play defense in certain situations

– I believe strongly that athletes deserve the opportunity to improve through game time and demonstrate their learning from practice
