ContentforAIFFWebsiteSection:NationalTeamsDepartmentSub-section:ScoutingCategories:Boys&Girls,SeniorNationalTeamsAIFFSelectionPolicyTheAllIndiaFootballFederationconductsascoutingprogrammeforitsNationalTeamCamps(bothmaleandfemaleteams)throughanetworkofscouts.ThescoutingprogrammealsoprovidesopportunitiesforIndianpassportholdersresidingoverseas.-ScoutingisconductedacrosscompetitionsconductedbytheAIFFviz.,Sub-Junior,JuniorandSeniorNFC,whicharecompetitionsbetweenState-teams;theSub-Junior,Junior,EliteYouthLeagues,whicharecompetitionsbetweenlicensedAcademies/Clubs.-ScoutsmaybepresentatcompetitionsconductedbyDistrictFootballAssociationsaffiliatedto State Football Associations (FA), by University/School Education bodies and by privateentities.-Further,theNationalTeamScoutingdepartmentmayconducttrialsindifferentstatesonaperiodicbasisinassociationwiththerespectiveStateFAs.StateFAsareencouragedtoensuretheattendanceofpotentialtalentsfromalldistrictswithintheirStateatthesetrials.- From Indians living outside India, the scouting team invites videos and documents onscouting@the-aiff.comAIFFscoutsshortlistplayersfromtheaboveactivitiesaspertherequirementsofthenationalteamcoachofthespecificage-group.Therecommendationofsuchplayersisplacedforwardto the head coach following a discussion/review between Director - National Teams andscout/s.CoachesmayinviteplayerstotheCampforfurthertrialsoutoftherecommendationlist of Scouts. If the playermeets the requirements of the coach, the player is asked tocontinue in the camp. The scouting network also keeps track of players whomay showpotential/lackincertainattributes/havebeenpartofNTcampinthepast.TheplayermayberecommendedtotheNTcoachoncethescoutfeelsthattheplayerisready.SeniorMen&WomenNationalTeams:Men:ScoutingisconductedatIndianSuperLeague(ISL),ILeagueand2ndDivILeague.Inter-universityandSantoshTrophytournamentsalsoprovideoptions.Inmostcases,playersareobservedinabovecompetitionsbyseniorteamassistantcoachorheadcoachbeforebeinginvitedtotheNationalTeamcamp.Women:ScoutingisconductedattheIndianWomen’sLeague(IWL).Seniorteamcoach/esalso observes development of players in the U18/U19 National Team camp and calls upplayerswhoaredeemedreadyfortheSeniorWomen’sNTcamp.TheU18/U19NTcampisakeyfeedertotheseniorteam.AllfinalselectiondecisionsaretakenbytheHeadCoachoftherespectiveteam.Camp/TeamselectiondocumentissignedbyGeneralSecretaryforadministrativesanctions.

Notes:Aspiringplayersare stronglyadvised to continuouslyparticipate in local competitions likeAIFF Baby League, inter-School, inter-College, etc. in order to increase the chances ofselection into the zonal/district/State-level age-category teams. This in turn raises thechancesofaplayerbeingsignedbyaClubtoparticipateinAIFFYouthLeagues.AspiringplayersandtheircoachesareadvisedtobeapprisedofactivitiesconductedbytheState FA of the state of their residence, so that deserving players do not miss out onopportunities to play.
