“Come ...
It is the vision of Stafford Heights Baptist Church
to minister in a relevant way to a diverse community,
to see people come to Christ and grow to maturity in Him.
Our Mission is to follow Jesus, who said,
follow me ...
become ‘fishers’ of men and women ...
go into all the world and make disciples.”

Title: ‘Disciples’
Ref: Luke 14:25-35; Mark 1:15; Matt 22:34-40; Matt 28:19-20
Reflection Questions:
What does it mean to you to be a disciple?
Draw your own graph of your spiritual journey with Jesus and share it with someone?
Who has invested into you on that journey?
Who are you investing into as you love God, love others and make disciples?

Prayer
Connection Praise God for a good commencement for our ministries over the
last couple of weeks. Pray for the connections with people that
through love, service and sharing, others will be drawn to Christ.
Praise God for new people connecting with the church - may they
find a spiritual home here and join us in our mission to those
around us.
● Pray for Behzad and Maryam & the family with the dedication of
Ivan on 18th Feb. May this be a day for great thanksgiving and
encouragement.
Prayer for Murray & Coralee as Murray is inducted this Sunday
11th Feb as pastor at Mareeba Baptist. May this be a great day of
celebration, affirmation and thanksgiving as the church gathers
around Murray & Coralee. Pray for Murray & Coralee as they
make friendships and get connected into the church and
community.
Continue to pray for Gayle Gelewski who is recovering from back
surgery, that God would bring healing, strength & relief from
pain.
Continue to pray for David Armstrong who has broken his wrist
and is recovering.
Continue to pray for Graeme Rouillon and that doctors might
have wisdom in his treatment. May Graeme & the family know
God’s comfort and strength.
Please be in prayer for Diane Murdoch & the family in their grief
& loss of Diane’s brother.
Continue to pray for Lynne Crowe with her pain management as
she awaits surgery for her shoulder.
The Karen mission team have returned home - give thanks to
God for the trip and all he has done through and in them. Pray
for the team as they settle back into life here in Brisbane after
such a cultural shift and pray this experience grows their faith
and witness here.
Pray for the effectiveness of treatment for Denise Glindemann.
Pray also for her family & her grandchildren who are usually in
her care.
Continue to pray for Billy, Megan & the team with Kids Club on
Thursdays, as it seeks to connect with children in the district.
I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in
the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord (Psalm 27:13-14)

The Pastor’s Pen
Disciples.
Have you ever noticed that
your children or other
people’s children begin to
take on something of the
manner of their parents? My daughter said to me the other day,
“You’re looking more like Granddad (my father) as you get
older”. Or maybe you’ve caught yourself saying, “I’m sounding
more like Mum“. The influence of those significant figures in our
life can leave good or bad impressions which can greatly affect
us.
The men and women who followed Jesus in his life time where
shaped by that experience greatly. They were called DISCIPLES—
called followers, teachable students, committed believers who
dedicated their lives to him. Peter summed up Jesus in this way,
“Lord to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
We believe and know you are the Holy One of God” (John 6:68-
69).
As disciples, we know that these men and women walked in
obedience that for many cost them their lives, or their homes or
their freedom. They did this because they experienced love and
life that they had never known before and knew it was why they
had been created—relationship with God through Jesus.
If we know Jesus, we are his disciples—followers and learners.
Shaped by the master by his Word, by the Spirit, through
surrender and obedience and through the family of brothers and
sisters in Christ. Over the coming weeks we will examine who is
a disciple, how they are made and what is our role in making
disciples.
Let us be encouraged—as we are influenced by the master, so
we influence the word around us for Christ. This is our call—to
Love God, love others and make other disciples.
God bless
Pastor Stephen
