Music Class

In music this month we have started working with our recorders, learned the story behind the writing of the Star Spangled Banner in both 5th and 6th grade, and used basketballs for teaching rhythm. Every student needs to have a recorder. We have them for sale at school for only $5.00.

Central Middle School has teamed up with United Way to provide extra learning opportunities to our students. In an average week, CMS offers 8 hours and 45 minutes of extra in-structional time outside of the regular school day with Tiger Math in the mornings and before school or after school ICU tutoring.

Tiger Math: 5th graders work on iXL and 6th grad-ers work on ALEKS under the guidance of teachers.

- 7:00am—7:30am

- Mrs. Riley and Mrs. Wischmann’s classrooms

Before School ICU: Any student may be signed up by a teacher to receive extra individualized help on specific as-signments or skills.

- 7:00am—7:45am

- Mrs. Riley and Mrs. Wischmann’s classrooms

After School ICU: Any student may be signed up by a teacher to receive extra individualized help on specific as-signments or skills.

- 3:30pm—4:30pm

It is important to remember that your student will need their own transportation. CMS does not provide transportation for extra ICU or Tiger Math times.

ICU allows students to master skills that require extra practice for them. The smaller group before or after school al-lows each student to receive extra instructional time from teachers.
