Marin made the remarks at the 2018 Global Leadership Business Forum, the foundation ceremony of the Chinese Alliance Interna- tional Federation, and the fifth anniversary of the Ninety-nine Chamber of Commerce held at Sheraton Shenzhen Futian Hotel. “I will put my focus on the Visas of Opportunity for Entre- preneurs. This visa is for entre- preneurs and persons who wish to go to Chile to live, to start a business or to invest. The visa can be obtained through a rating system which is based on educa- tion, age, language, investment and the specific region in the country where the investment is going to take place,” explained Marin. Applicants for the Visas of Opportunity for Entrepreneurs should present a business plan indicating the region where they want to invest and prove their mastery of the Spanish language. “If they invest in less-devel- oped regions, they will receive more points,” Marin told the Shenzhen Daily. At the same time, the mini- mum investment amount is US$100,000. “For this initial stage, which ends on Nov. 30 this year, we will issue a maximum of 1,000 Visas of Opportunity for Entrepreneurs. Expats who failed to obtain the visa this time will be automatically added to the next round of applications,” explained Marin. The People’s Republic of China and Chile are the two countries that are the farthest away from each other on this planet, Marin said. “However, this distance hasn’t stopped the two countries from building a rich and close relation with each other. Since 1970, the relation between the two sides has been developed and strengthened,” he said. According to Marin, China is now Chile’s biggest trading partner. China accounts for 25 percent of the total exports from Chile, with the value of exports exceeding US$18 billion and the bilateral trade volume reaching US$34.92 billion in 2017. “We have the aspiration of doubling bilateral commerce over the next decade,” he said. The event was organized by China Com Group and supported by different institutes, including the World Organization of Gover- nance & Competitiveness for the UNSDGS, the Consulate General of Chile in Guangzhou and the Guangdong Province Federation of Industry Association, gathering around 600 representatives from businesses, trade associations, and financial institutions. The team finished on top in the technical routine and added to their lead in the free routine, winning a total of 186.9395 points for the title. Japan snatched the silver medals with 182.8690 points, and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea came in third with 170.8475. China has won the team event in artistic swimming at all previ- ous Asian Games and swept all eight gold medals on offer in the sport since 2006. Born in 1997 in Nanshan District, the twin sisters started training for synchronized swim- ming part-time at the age of 8 while studying at Shenzhen Nan- shan Foreign Language School for eight years. They won a gold medal, China’s first ever, and a silver medal at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships. In last year’s National Games, the twin sisters won the first gold medal for a Guangdong team. After one year on the national team, the confidence and skills of the twin sisters have improved dramatically, according to Wang Jiuli, the twin sisters’ coach on the Guangdong provincial team. The 21-year-old sisters have set their target for the 2020 Tokyo Games. In the team event, Song Yiling, an athlete from Shenzhen, and her team members won the bronze medal in the women’s speed sport climbing event at the Asian Games. The 17-year-old Song is a second-year student majoring in hotel management at Yuxin School. The two sides will carry out comprehensive cooperation in three areas — namely early diagnosis, treatment and pathogenesis of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy, diagnosis and treatment of intractable post- partum hemorrhages and blood transfusions, and research on an artificial intelligence fetal electro- cardiogram (ECG) monitoring system — according to a signing ceremony held Thursday. In a speech delivered at the ceremony, Redman said his team looks forward to the collabora- tion with the Shenzhen hospital, which aims to increase access to quality health care for millions of Chinese women. Redman, a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetrician and Gyne- cologists, is a pioneer in the field of obstetrics and a renowned scientist who has been exploring new treatments and preventive measures for pre-eclampsia. Additionally, the system for antepartum records he and Pro- fessor Geoffrey Dawes developed decades ago is widely used in the obstetrical departments of Euro- pean and American hospitals. He is currently working on a compa- rable system for use during labor, which is expected to enter clinical trials by 2020. Pre-eclampsia is a kind of hypertensive disorder during pregnancy. Its clinical manifes- tations include hypertension, proteinuria, and edema. On serious occasions, it may result in seizures, coma and even death for both the mother and the baby, according to Zhao Yuehong, chief obstetrician at Shenzhen People’s Hospital. Zhao explained that pre- eclampsia affects five to 12 per- cent of pregnancies worldwide, and that early onset of the illness in pregnant women is increasing in Shenzhen, especially in women of an advanced maternal age. Zhao said the cause of pre- eclampsia is still unknown and the illness is difficult to diag- nose early. However, Redman has solved the conundrum. He discovered that pre-eclampsia is associated with two factors in the maternal placental origin and that early diagnosis and treatment can be achieved by measuring the ratio of the two factors.
