WORD OF LIFE… Mercy brings healing that is impossible on a merely human level. Divine Mercy can restore hope, because it flows from the heart of the Risen Christ who, once and for all, has vanquished the finality of death. The deep truth that faith teaches is that only in the context of mercy—God’s Mercy and our own forgiveness and mercy—can we, as wounded human men and women, find healing and hope. ~ Bishop Robert Finn, “Divine Mercy and the Death Penalty,” USCCB Respect Life Program (2010-2011)

SUMMER MASS SCHEDULE…The Sunday Summer Mass Schedule ends Sunday, September 12 . During these summer months we have cancelled the 8 a.m. Sunday Mass. Please adjust your schedules accordingly.

The collection for August 8 was $5,460.58. Ultimately, it is the Lord who receives your gift with

heartfelt appreciation.

OUR PARISH FOOD PANTRY Summertime means increased hardships for many needy families in the Archdiocese of Newark who rely on school breakfast and lunch to fill their children’s tummies. Food pantries are hard-pressed to provide for these hungry people since regular food collections drop off or stop completely in the summer. Right now if you wish to donate to our Food Pantry, we are always in need of soups, rice, Jell-O, peanut butter, jellies, crackers, pancake mix, syrup, canned juices, iced tea mix, flavored drink mixes, potato buds, canned fruit and vegetables, dry milk, baby food/formula and paper products: toilet or facial tissue, toiletries like soap, toothpaste/brushes, shampoo and conditioner, dish and laundry detergents/softeners.

There are so many ways God is made visible in the world around us. Our Church of Newark, which serves Hudson, Essex, Union and Bergen counties, sees God in the hundreds of thousands of people it takes care of every year by teaching, sheltering and caring for all who come to it for help. We can only offer assistance because of your generosity to the 2010 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal. Won’t you please take a moment to fill out a pledge card? This sacrifice on your part will show that you, too, see the face of God in everyone who seeks help. Thank you.

go with all your heart” ~Confucius
