SUSTAINABLE DEMOLITIONS GAME: GUIDELINES FOR TEACHERS

The Sustainable Demolitions computer game delivers sustainability and demolition training to pre-apprentices studying a VET in Schools-based Certificate II in Construction. Coinciding with the rollout of a new 2013 Victorian curriculum, the games-based learning tool engages learners and presents an alternative to traditional pedagogy. The game enhances learning and teaching outcomes by aligning gameplay and specific learning outcomes with VET learning styles and engage students by making them active agents in the learning experience.

Computer requirements: The game is a rich media program and will run best on computers with an i5 processor or greater, and 2GB RAM.

Game DownloadDownload the game from Serious Games GroupSave the susdem.zip file (333mb) to your computer, then right click on the file and choose 'extract all'. This will extract the zip file and create a folder titled susdem with the game files inside. Open this folder and click on the susdem.exe program file to launch the game.

The game includes a tutorial within the game to familiarise users with the gameplay and provide an overview of the game goals. There are no additional instructions- the in-game tutorial will step users through the game as they begin playing it. The following guidelines provide a 'cheat sheet' with corresponding screen grabs for teachers.
