Consumer products industry framework from IBMA road map for solution deployment

More than ever, consumer products companies must focus on value. IBM has designed a framework for consumer products companies to unlock the value of SAP, creating value in multiple activities and business processes that generate growth, margins and true differen-tiation above and beyond what is delivered by the investment in the ERP backbone.

The consumer products industry framework from IBM consists of enabling technologies that are applicable in four unique business domains:

1:1 Consumer, including: Consumer Driver Analysis, which helps integrate disparate data, such as syndicated consumption, point-of-sale, shipments, consumer Internet sentiment and marketing activities into a common analytical platform.

Consumer Lifecycle Visibility, which utilizes new data sources to help Brand Managers understand consumers reactions and buying behaviors faster than ever.

Collaborative new product development and introduction to standardized product codes and measurements, providing improved collaboration with key stakeholders and streamlining the overall NPDI process.

Multi-channel Transformation, enabling technology that allows a CP company a direct connection to the consumer via direct consumer channels, such as a web or retail stores.

Smarter Retailer Collaboration, including: Optimized Retail Collaboration solutions that assist in collaborative efforts with retailers to improve operations such as promotions, category management and pricing decisions.

Optimized Distributor Management System, which allows for enhanced visibility of secondary sales to gauge brand performance, forecast and enable demand-driven replenishment.

Advanced Direct to Store solutions to take Direct Store Delivery (DSD) to a new level of efficiency and effectiveness through the deployment of advanced optimization and predictive analytic capabilities.

Smarter Supply Networks and Manufacturing, including: Next Gen Supply Chain, which fulfills the premise of right product, right place, right time through advanced visibility and cost management techniques. The intelligent supply chains of the future allow organizations to plan effectively, sense disruptions and react on a real-time basis.

Supply Chain Sustainability Management, which reduces waste, work-in-progress inventory and natural resources (such as carbon, energy and water) while aligning manufacturing execution with demand sensing through optimization technology.

Full-value Traceability, which tracks and traces both upstream and downstream ingredients and products to gain greater supply chain visibility and recall management, increasing the ability to comply with safety mandates and regulations that drives increased brand equity.

Smarter Factory, which helps create an intelligent, interconnected and instrumented facility using sensors and actuators to drive processes, linking data from multiple sources to optimize operations and using manufacturing execution systems to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

Enterprise Visibility, including: SAP core ERP, which streamlines processes and reduces operational costs by extending the value of existing systems and applications, and therefore increasing the return on SAP investment.

Complex Information Management to ensure consistent master information across transactional and analytical systems.

Talent Management for consumer products, helping create greater shareholder value with more adaptive, high-performing workforces through rapid adoption of globally integrated workforce and talent management software and processes.

Enterprise Asset Management to extend asset life, reduce inventory costs and control spending.

Demand Signal Repository, which provides an enterprise-level repository of integrated and cleansed demand data that is used to generate insights that lead to more efficient execution of marketing, sales, promotion and supply chain functions.

The domains and projects within the framework allow the creation of a new level of information integration, visibility and control for business performance across your enterprise. Whether implementing one or several projects, you can ensure sustainability throughout the product life cycle, spanning development to consumption, and enabling a distributed, diverse and virtual enterprise.
