Among the dignitaries present at the conclave were Jaideep S. Mehta, CEO, News Corp VCCircle, Shalil Gupta, Chief Business Officer, News Corp VCCircle, Sumeer Chandra, Managing Director, HP Inc. India, Milind Thakre, Product Management - Security, HP, Meenakshi Vajpai, CIO, Vodafone, Nitin Seth, CEO, Incedo Inc., and Rajnish Gupta, Senior Director Enterprise & SMB Sales, HP Inc. India. Jaideep S. Mehta, in his welcome address, set the context for the conclave. “As business and technology leaders the agenda that's facing us on a daily basis has changed dramatically. There's a need for speed, need for scale, need to address consumers and the need to understand that market disruption can come from anywhere. There's a constant lookout for new competitors and an urgent and ever- escalating need for security. You also need to prepare organisations for the next-generation workforce,” he said. Speaking about megatrends in technology, Sumeer Chandra, Managing Director, HP Inc. India, said: “Innovation is a constant and is always going to be there and we will have to respond as business leaders. So what is the new framework or the North Star that should become the guiding light for us? What should we, as decision makers, be telling our team? We are entering what we call 'the experience age'. It is all about the experience that companies enable for their customers. You see that today in all the business and service models that are emerging. You will see the emergence of new consumption models, new IT models that will deliver these experiences and technology will be fundamental to all of this.” Futurist, business strategist, public speaker and businessman, Prof. Anton Musgrave, who has been leading the digital transformation movement and has helped industries across the world, shared his insights on drivers of long- term business success, shifting business models, and what it takes to stay ahead of the technology curve. Founders of successful start-ups Manish Vij, Co-Founder, Smile Group, and Manish Amin, Co-Founder & CIO, Yatra Online Pvt. Ltd., spoke at length about their entrepreneurial journey and the power of perseverance when it comes to building a start-up. “We are like an incubator of digital businesses. We are incubating either from scratch or we are incubating with global majors. There are about a hundred thousand start-ups happening in the country and the country has evolved from services to products. At least 20,000 of these start-ups are building some fantastic products. And they are hunting for larger companies to do POC (proof of concept) because they are technology guys, not necessarily business development guys,” said Manish Vij. Manish Amin also shared his thoughts on pushing the boundaries to deliver a convenient and enhanced booking experience for customers. “There are a lot of travel start-ups that approach us and we help them grow. We also do hackathons and a lot of new ideas come from there,” he said. Meenakshi Vajpai, CIO, Vodafone India Ltd., in her presentation, pointed out how the customers want products to be tailored according to their specific needs. “We have to push the product boundaries. We are stuck with our products but perhaps the customer wants something completely different,” she averred. Nitin Seth, CEO, Incedo Inc., emphasised that it is leadership and organisational structures that are limiting large enterprises from realising the full potential of digital technologies. “We are in an era of unprecedented velocity of technology disruption. Over the last couple of years, I have had the opportunity of seeing it from different lenses. The bottomline is that technological advancement has far overrun the advancement in our management and organisational thinking and approaches,” he reasoned. Towards the end of the session, Vickram Bedi, Senior Director, HP & Tech Circle Team, launched a coffee table book titled ‘Big Switch’.
