Agri-Hub Ethiopia

• Agri-ProFocus is a partnership with Dutch roots promoting farmer entrepreneurship.

• In Ethiopia, the partnership created the Agri-Hub Ethiopia as a multi-actor platform for joint action and joint learning.

• The Agri-Hub’s mission is to bring the various actors (NGO’s, private sector, government) in Ethiopia together around a joint agenda on farmer entrepreneurship, thus boosting the agricultural sector.

Working Groups

2013: Start of Working Groups

The mandate of the Working Groups is to set the agenda for the Agri-Hub and to shape the implementation. They have to ensure that the Hub does what the members want it to do.

Mandate of Working Group

Each Working Group will:

1. Define the thematic focus

2. Define an agenda in terms of themes and activities

3. Budgeting and mobilizing funds (in cooperation with secretariat)

4. Be responsible for the content of planned events (secretariat does logistics and administration)

5. Report on progress and events to Steering Committee

All WG now have small funding available to do some research on their topics or to organize an event, or other…

Objectives within Agri-ProFocus

Working Group Gender in Value Chains

• Start-up meeting on Network Day December 13 2012

• First meeting 31 January: discussing objective and development of ToR and idea for survey

• Development of ToR and survey

• Second meeting 28 February: reviewing draft ToR and survey

• Survey online to end of April

Now: Consultative meeting to make concrete action plan to finalize ToR - based on survey results and inputs from practioners.

Terms of Reference WG GVC: brief summary

Overall goal: Support the mainstreaming of gender equity in agricultural value chain development in Ethiopia

Expected outputs:

1) Analysis and action plan based on the identified gaps through the survey

2) Shared experience and documentation on gender in value chains

3) Joined initiatives (collaboration) between two or more network partners

4) Advise on gender mainstreaming for other initiatives within the Agri-Hub

5) Documentation of experience on using the tools

Group composition:

Participants of Agri-Hub who are interested and can contribute to the objective of the Working Group.

Chair person: 1 year max. selected by Working Group members
