What is a constitution,

ANYWAYS!?!

Page 3: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

1. It defines the government

Page 4: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

2. It also defines the rights of us, the citizens!

Page 5: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

Page 8: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

Page 9: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

It was written in spring come summer of 1787.

Page 10: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

55 delegates/ people wrote the constitution.

Page 11: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

Only 39 out of 55 people signed the constitution.

Page 12: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

Even though the US is young our constitution has been in effect the longest.

Page 13: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

The US constitution has 27 amendments,

Page 14: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

They are an alteration of addition to a document,

Page 15: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

The first 10 amendments are known as the bill of rights.

Page 16: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

The constitution encourages everyone to be equal. :)

Page 17: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

The constitution is basic guidelines of what is expected from the people.

Page 18: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

The Athenian

Constitution!!!

Outlines of the Athens Constitution:

Page 20: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

● Every citizen has duties ● Military service -To be a citizen is to be a solider

Page 21: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

Athens did not have a constitution in a form of a document but they did have one.

Page 22: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

The Athens constitution started because groups of people did not get along.

Page 23: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

This constitution granted political rights to the lower social classes.

Page 24: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

The Athens constitution wanted everyone to be equal.

Page 25: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

Athens is famous for intilelonial freedom.

Page 26: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

The Athens constitution placed people into 3 social classes...

Page 27: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

Horsemen where the richest people in all of Athens. They were considered members of the ruling class.

Horsemen

Page 28: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

Yorkmen

This social class usually had to work very very hard for money.

Page 29: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

And Slaves

Slaves served other people.

Page 30: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

The Athenian constitution is no longer in effect.

Page 31: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

This is because.....

Page 32: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

The athens constitution generally worked but it was flawed, very flawed.

Page 33: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

And Now The Big Question.....

Page 34: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

HOW DID ATHENS START DEMOCRACEY!?!

Page 35: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

Athens constructed the first known Constitution,

Page 36: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

Athens also had the first form of a government, excluding a monarchy.

Page 37: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

And thats a really big deal.

Page 38: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

If it weren't for Athens Then the majority of the world could still be governed by by a monarchy.

Page 39: Constitution Writing in Athens and the U.S.A

Also, If Athens did not have a constitution, The American Constitution would MOST LIKELY not exist.
