The festival seeks to educa te citizens about the document and the articles and amendments that form our Constitutional Republic in a fun, interactive way that brings the entire community together. The family festival will feature live music, dramatic performances from local student civics projects, Founding Father re-enactments, Constitutional speakers and more. Community leaders from government, religion, media, service organizations, law enforcement, education and business will assist in this promotion. The festival comes in response to a series of State Resolutions passed by the Georgia General Assembly dating back to 1996 with SR 529 where the General Assembly unanimously adopts a “plan to defeat civic illiteracy” and calls on all citizens in Georgia and the nation to u se “Republic T eamwork Principles” to encourage community as a part of “Our Republic Walk”. The festival in Marietta is the work of one coalition and one community’s response to the directive of the Georgia General Assembly Resolutions to join in the promotion of Our Republic Walk.
