Servants' volunteers, donors, partners, prayer warriors and staff are on the front lines of poverty.

Every day our eyes are opened to the hardships, smells, hazards, sounds, and reality of poverty.

Whether a SARF family is looking for a way to feed their malnourished baby, or a family from Hurricane Harvey is now homeless due to their condemned house, or an older adult homeowner has been without water for two months—a life living in poverty must be helped.

If we are blind to our neighbors and communities who live in the reality of poverty every single day, how can we love our neighbors?

In Matthew 22, Mark 12, and Luke 10, Jesus tells us to “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Take a look around your neighborhood. Do you see the homes that are dilapidated or messy? Do you see neighbors wearing old, worn clothing? Do you judge that homeowner as lazy or do you offer to help?

Servants ’ volunteers, donors, partners, prayer warriors and staff offer to help! That is what God has called us to do. Servants connects compassionate people with people in crisis.

So we can all continue to serve our neighbors locally, nationally, and internationally on the front lines, we are kicking off our:

“Love Your Neighbor” year-end campaign to raise $185,000.

This Campaign has been created to ensure there is a dedicated, talented staff in 2018 to lead the endeavors God places before us; to empower our hundreds of volunteers to continue to work on the front lines; to answer the calls of the hundreds of very low-income older adult and disabled homeowners who need critical repairs to live in a safe and healthy home; to love and teach our Guatemalan families to break their poverty cycle for good; to respond to our neighbors in Texas who are homeless, penniless, and feel hopeless; and to build relationships wherever and whenever we can.

Thanks to you, we can serve those who God puts before us on the front lines. The cause is critical, the stakes are high and to love your neighbor and impact your communities, we are asking that you prayerfully make a year-end donation to Servants ’ Love Your Neighbor Campaign.

Make your tax-deductible donation to Servants now.

Please give:

1) by texting your donation to 717-722-0336;

2) by going online to http://servants.org/support-servants and choosing “Love Your Neighbor Campaign,” or

3) by mailing a check made payable to Servants.

Be a blessing and get blessed! Don ’t let fear or anxiety keep you from going on a national or international mission trip, Servants coordinates all travel, all accommodations, ground transportation, meals, projects, etc. Don ’t let lack of funding keep you from a trip. Servants will show you how to fundraise for your mission trip. You don’t need skills or special talent either, just a heart to serve.

Going on a mission trip will CHANGE YOUR LIFE forever! If God is calling you to serve His children through a mission trip, please email us at [email protected] and talk with us in person about trip details and your apprehensions.

A $200 deposit will hold your trip reservation.

Families Blossoming! The goal of our Serving at-Risk Families (SARF) ministry is to teach families to be self-sufficient and to break their poverty cycle.

SARF has been working with families and guiding them to set family goals, paying for the children ’s education as well as parents, if they desire to learn a specific new skill. Many of our families are slowly embracing this paradigm shift.

The Chinchilla family started selling beauty products and is now able to provide food and basic necessities for themselves.

The Vasquez family opened a little

tienda selling eggs, fruit, and snacks.

The Perez family has been growing their business selling tortillas to local families and businesses.

The Jimenez family is selling fish that they are “farming” in a small, hand-made pool at their home.

Dayana Mansilla will be graduating from Chef’s school and starting a catering business.

Maria Monroy’s tienda was recently reopened.

And the list goes on for our families and the many ways God is blessing

them. Praise God for changing their hearts, for opening their minds, and for giving our missionaries the direction and love they need to teach our families.

With your help, we are also able to send our SARF children to school. To do this, we need $15,000 for January 2018 enrollment.

Please donate to the Love Your Neighbor Campaign. There are so many opportunities in Guatemala to show our Father ’s love and disciple families who feel that all hope is gone.

...In Your Community, the U.S., or the World!

There are mountains of ruined personal possessions, destroyed lifelong photo albums and family heirlooms, along with water -logged furniture and household items still lining the streets of communities who are suffering from Hurricane Harvey.

Life will never be the same for families who have lost everything through the flooding. These families are working to rebuild not just their homes and properties, but also their very lives. Please donate to the Love Your Neighbor Campaign so hope can be restored for these hurricane victims.

Trent Davis led a team to Texas in October to see first hand what was needed and to listen to where God wants our Disaster Recovery teams.

Servants will begin Disaster Recovery trips to Texas several times a month for many months to come. The trips will be one week long and we will fly to Texas to begin restoring homes and helping families reestablish themselves.

Come to Texas on a Disaster Recovery Trip! Email Trent Davis ([email protected]) to get on the group email that will keep you updated with trip details and trip dates.

The Gift of Making a Difference Locally Ms. M. lives in York City and first contacted Home Helps in March. However, due to the Home Helps ’ waiting list of 130 Homeowners who need repairs to live in a safe and healthy home, her repairs have only recently been assessed. Because of the severity of the repairs, she was moved to the top of the list.

This 77-year old homeowner lives with an income of $650 a month. She loves her 3-story home and has lived there for 40 years, but her mobility has become limited.

Her kitchen faucet has leaked for so long that it has rotted her countertop, base cabinets and flooring. The 2nd floor bathroom is also leaking down through the kitchen ceiling and she has no lighting in the kitchen.

This project was complex, requiring a lot of materials and resources.

Without your help, Home Helps would not have been able to make the repairs. Her bathroom may even have fallen into her kitchen if the leaks continued.

As the projects get more complex, the need for funding becomes greater. Our Home Helps staff of 4 is working hard to meet the demand. Our volunteers are sacrificing their time to help our neighbors in need, but we are in need of funding for materials, for trailer repairs, for tools, and for staffing.

Please give to our Love Your Neighbor Campaign. You will make a huge impact to someone with

little hope! Servants ’ mission continues to Serve Christ, Build Relationships, Transform Lives, and Provide Hope.

Consider giving your family the gift of helping a person in crisis for Christmas this year!

Servants is participating again in this year's Extraordinary Give on November 17, 2017!

The Extraordinary Give is Lancaster County's Largest Day of Giving. For the past five years, in just 120 hours of giving, the Extraordinary Give has raised $22.5 million for more than 500 organizations,

including Servants!

This year, $500,000 from presenting sponsors will be stretched and Servants will be given a % of funds based upon donations received. To donate to Servants through the Extraordinary Give, go to:

That’s Extraordinary!

“24 Hours in Poverty” is a youth group experience created by

Servants and intended to Teach and Empower groups of young people to battle poverty through knowledge, prayer, and

fundraising for our Serving at-Risk Families in Guatemala.

This program sends students through daily life activities and relationships that those living in extreme poverty experience on a daily basis. There is an array of village life activities, games,

Bible studies and prayer events. Do you have 24 hours to teach your youth about poverty?

Please contact Chris Gohn at [email protected] or 717-378-0336 for more information or to schedule an event at your church.
