For we decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

Although the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, to us it is the power of God.

Our speech and our message are not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit

and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

0.0 Preface

Moving forward is the title of this outlook. By writing this I realize that we are very blessed to be able

to say so. Because this title means that we are on track and that all our plans, longings and desires

fall into their places. We would like to move forward in the direction we set, and make everything

more fruitful and more blossoming, so God will be glorified in the marketplace in Europe, more and

more. We are grateful for everything God did and would like to give all praise and honour to our

God, for that of what we were able to do.

What is this fruit and blessing?

Our objective is:

That all business leaders, -owners and (young)professionals accept Jesus as their Saviour and Lord,

and that they reflect Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God in the way they behave, speak and conduct

their business, so that all people honour and glorify God for who He is.

Just to give 2 examples on a ministry level of what God is doing:

• Starting a small CBMC team in Azerbaijan, for us out of the bleu, with businesspeople who

would like it to grow and bring it to other Muslim nations as well.

• Speaking with our German friends, who are eager to translate our ‘God at Work course’ in

the German language and roll it out in Germany among their groups.

On a personal level we receive regular and often these kinds of messages by mail:

• On my personal behalf, I would like to thank you for such a great time, wisdom and teaching

shared on the conference.

• Just wanted to say a big thank you for all that you and Europartners have done for us and

many others! God bless you abundantly!!

In activities (briefly):

• Twelve mission trips, and two of them in a Muslim nation. In one of these Muslim nations we

could even share the gospel with government officials.

• The annual conference in Budapest in February; we had more than a 100 participants and

were able to attract many young leaders, who laid the foundation for the start of our Young

Professionals Academy.

• The Young Professionals Academy was one of the new promises and we made a promising

start. In May Frans van Santen became coordinator for this program and part of the

Europartners staff. We were able to organize 3 weekends already in 2017.

• We were able to launch our Marketplace Ambassadors basic training in Albania in November

and have run 2 Coach trainings in person and 2 Follow-up trainings at the internet in an 8

weeks webinar training.

The quality:

The quality of our programs and resources can be measured by some unexpected spin-off outside

Europe. CBMC Latin Amerika has reviewed our Young Professionals Academy and decided to launch

it in Latin America as well. In South Korea they are going to translate our booklets for small groups

regarding Business God’s way, and in Africa we had been invited to give the training ‘Starting and

running a Christian Business’.

We are grateful to God to be blessed like this and that He allows us to serve in Europe and his

Kingdom.

1.0 Review 2017

We already informed you about the fruit in general in the preface. In this chapter we will compare the goals set with the result and pay attention to some other topics too.

1.1 Get informed

We also would like to inform you about our monthly update and prayer letters. In these letters you receive a detailed update at a monthly base. These letters enable you to pray for us as well, and stay close throughout the year. If you don’t receive them yet, and you would like to be part of the Europartners family and prayer warriors please subscribe and support our mission with your prayers. You can subscribe easily by writing an e-mail to: [email protected]

1.2 2017 regarding to our goals as set

1.2.1 Mission trips.

We are glad that we were able to make 12 mission trips and outreaches in various nations. Special nations were: Uzbekistan and Uganda, next to the various European nations like Estonia, Latvia, Ukraine, Germany, Belgium, Slovakia, UK, France, Hungary and Albania. Uzbekistan was on a special request from the government to one of our friends in Europe, who has a business in this nation. They asked us to teach about business at a conference for entrepreneurs with small and medium size businesses, to stimulate business and economic growth. We have also build special relationships and could share the good news with individuals. Uganda was a trip to support Africa. As Europartners we would like to share from our wealth, knowledge and resources with others as well. Out of this perspective the board granted Wouter to make 1 trip every year to support (CBMC) Africa. At this conference we spoke about starting, maintaining and running a Christian business. In Africa is everyone more or less a Christian, but the application of faith to their daily business life is still a topic to develop, as in Europe.

1.2.2 Conference Budapest.

As mentioned in the preface, it was a success with many young professionals and also the celebration of 25-years of KEVE (our Hungarian partner). Topics we have covered were:

• Generosity, with Adam Walach,

• Unashamed ethical, with Patrick Kuwana,

• Living in a VUCA world, with Paul Donders,

• City Vision, with Tony Hodges.

We had also various testimonies and workshops. A highlight was the Young Professionals program and the start of our young professional network with Frans leading it.

1.2.3 Young Professionals.

We launched our Young Professional Academy (YPA) in February 2017. This is an intensive three-year training program for young professionals. Since the launch, we organized weekends in Romania, Ukraine and Spain. The trainings have been very well received. Participants appreciate the following in particular:

• Open atmosphere which stimulates learning;

• Relevant teachings which are both Biblical and practical in the business life;

• The subjects we teach which are at the heart of many young professionals’ lives;

• The availability and vulnerability of the teachers;

• The mentoring program.

December 2017 Europartners Review 2017 and Outlook 2018, moving forwards - 6 -

A fancy summary of their experience can be found in this short but great video! https://vimeo.com/225089109

Mentoring

The young professionals who attended one of our weekends are now part of our mentoring program. This means that they have a mentor who is available every six to eight weeks for discussion, learning, accountability and prayer. The mentor is an experienced business person from the Europartners network. We are glad that many people from our network have signed up to become a mentor. They experience it as joy to invest in the lives of these upcoming leaders.

1.2.4 BridgeMeetings.

With the BridgeMeetings we didn’t achieve the goals as planned. We did two international trainings to engage people, but till this point not many people started using the tool and the model. There was a lot of interest and engagement, but none had started this year. In a survey we discovered that people feel not capable to run them, and that we should work on the format (more informal and less strict) and the way of presenting it (not a training and program, but the facilitation of meeting each other around life and business). The BridgeMeetings and their improvement will be one of our focus points for 2018.

1.2.5 Coach training.

This training is well received, the quality is high, and people liked it. We did two in-person trainings and two sessions of 8-weeks by webinar. We experienced that people catch the content and idea of coaching and start changing their natural behavior into questioning and listening, instead of telling and judging. For sharing the gospel this is a great tool in today’s culture where people would like to discover and explore on their own, instead of being told what to do. The spin-off to family life and business is also tremendous. Business culture and marriages are changing. We will maintain working on introducing this as a life style. The course is also translated in the Spanish and Portuguese languages.

1.2.6 Establishing and helping (CBMC) business ministries.

We did many skype calls and visits to the presidents and chairpersons of the various ministries. In this we contributed to the quality and dynamic of the various CBMC missions. For example:

• A brainstorm session of one afternoon with the CBMC board in Latvia

• We could establish new and younger leadership in Belgium

• CBMC/ASPEC Portugal is on the move again and active

New ministries established in 2017 are:

• A CBMC ministry in Azerbaijan,

• Two new CBMC ministries in Ukraine, one in Kiev and one for the other parts of Ukraine.

Grateful We don’t want to take the credits for everything that is happening on a local level. It is because of the local business people and initiators that things fall into place. They way they listen to God, understand his voice and execute the plans make the difference. We can only help and come alongside. We watch, we are elated and see God working.

Connecting ministries in numbers: • In total we count 46 European nations • We have connecting ministries in 28 nations • In 18 nations we have developed and connected business ministries • In 10 nations we have small connected business ministries • In 18 nations we are not connected at all

3.0 Europartners priorities 2018

3.1 Introduction and starting points

Helping national business ministries to equip, and (young) professionals, entrepreneurs and

business leaders to be a Marketplace Ambassador for Christ is our prime focus and goal.

We focus on evangelism and discipleship in a new era (the 21th century) and in a business culture.

Evangelism

We believe in building relationships and coming alongside by our friends, peers and colleges with

respect and love. The coaching skills and attitude of respect (people make their own journey),

listening, and asking open questions, we see as essential in helping our friends to find Christ. We will

try to make the coaching attitude to a characteristic of all Europartners’ friends and a default

attitude of all our Christian business leaders and professionals.

At the same base we offer the BridgeMeetings as a place where (Christian and non-Christian) can

meet and explore life, business and themselves. Next to this we offer Operation Timothy as a one-to

one tool, and the Alpha Business course as a tool for small groups.

We have training and trainers available to support the nations, the ministries and our friends in

developing their skills to become a marketplace ambassador for Christ.

As Christian businesspeople and professionals we are marketplace ambassadors of Christ. God is

making His appeal through us; to beg the world on behalf of Christ, to be reconciled to God.

(Reference to: 2 Corinthians 5:20)

The kingdom of God

Today many ministries and Christians focus on the Kingdom of God, but there is no Kingdom or

building of the Kingdom without Christ and a submission to his Lordship. All people need to be born

again first, before they can enter the Kingdom. As Jesus is saying:

Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. …………and Jesus

answered ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the

kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

(John 3:3-5)

Jesus speaks in the same line about the Kingdom in Mark 1:15 about repentance, as a condition. He

points to Himself as the King and the realisation of the Kingdom.

In Luke 17:21 Jesus says, the Kingdom is not visible and tangible (so it is not in institutions or

companies). In John 18:36, Jesus is saying, that the Kingdom is not of this earth. (it is not how we

would view or build it). The Kingdom is Jesus and his Authority. The Holy Spirit executes His power in

and throughout us. For our era the Kingdom is not outside, it is within. The only building and

expansion of the Kingdom is by people who repent, accept Christ as Saviour and Lord, and turn away

from their natural behaviour by being their own lord. Therefore we focus on people and their

relationship to Christ first and above all.

The eminence of Christ and our relationship to Him is the key of everything, also of the Kingdom.

December 2017 Europartners Review 2017 and Outlook 2018, moving forwards - 10 -

Discipleship and leadership

Discipleship is being a student. We listen, practise and learn. We dedicate our whole life to God,

including our finances, business and leadership. Like Paul is saying:

I implore you by God’s mercy, to offer your very selves to Him: a living sacrifice, dedicated and fit for

his acceptance, the worship offered by mind and heart. (Romans 12:1-2)

Being a student, is practising and executing what we have heard and developing our talents, gifts and

skills we have received. It is also being a king and a leader, because if we serve other people we help

them discover Christ and to flourish and grow to the image and likeness of Christ. This is true

leadership; serving others with perspective and vision.

Business and finances are a part of discipleship. The way we view our calling towards God, men and

society make all the difference in the way we behave and conduct our business.

The key to all this is the heart and mind of men.

Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life. (Proverbs 4:23)

And

Conform no longer to the pattern of this present world, but be transformed by the renewal of your

minds. (Romans 12:2)

Who reigns the heart and minds of men, is the King of the earth. The Holy Spirit is the game-changer

in all this. To receive Him we need Christ before. Evangelism is the start, and discipleship the follow-

up.

Transformation

We as humans and Christians are not the gamechangers of this world, only Christ is. We as a Church

(the body of Christ) are not the hope of the world, only Christ Himself is. It is Christ who will set this

world free from sin. We as humans cannot do this. We can only witness of Christ and share the good

news of who He is and what He did and will do.

• Jesus already set us free from the penalty of sin, that is the past.

• Jesus set us free from the power of sin, by his dead, resurrection, his Holy Spirit and grace,

and by allowing us to be part of his Glory. That is now. It happened and is happing.

• Jesus will set us free from the presence of sin, that is the future. When He takes away all evil

and Satan out of this world.

Sin is the killer of human life, therefore that is our biggest enemy. Sin takes the good life as meant by

God, the joy and pleasure of a Godly life that is full of righteousness, love and goodness. Therefore it

is in the best interest of people to accept Christ as their Saviour and Lord.

Today many Christians focus on improving life, business, economies and cities to some kind of

heavenly standard. It is done by giving inspiration, a new and better perspective, the Christian values

or virtues and individual growth. But our problem is not that we lack dreams, ambitions or

perspectives. Our problem is sin, everything that is not from God, out of God or ruled by God.

Sin is inside us and not outside us. It is not in the structures, institutions, or our companies, it is us. Us

looking for our own ways, us being our own gods and lords. At the end we are our own problem.

Transformation goes by the way of dying to ourselves and not by improving ourselves.

All our focus on transforming nations, cities, culture, economy and society is in vain, if we not deal

with the human part of it, which is contaminated with sin. A nation, city or society is a gathering of

men. A culture is only a reflection of the heart of men in general. Economy is the household of a

society, and the reflection of economical choices men make. All these things are only reflections of

who we are. Therefore Europartners will always focus on individual people, on their hearts and

minds in their relationship with Christ.

3.2 Activities and specific topics 2018

3.2.1 Mission trips

For the nations and dates see also Annex 1.

The goal of these trips is outreach, encouragement and helping the national ministries in reaching

their objectives or starting new (CBMC) business ministries.

Apart from the Young Professionals Academy and trainings we plan to visit 6-8 nations for this

purpose.

3.2.2 CBMC World Convention in Belfast June 21-23

This is by far the most important event to promote Europartners and CBMC and connect to new

relationships and nations.

Our goals are:

• Bringing in as many delegates as possible.

• Raising scholarships for the YP and people from eastern Europe.

• Taking care of pre-conference training: Coaching and BridgeMeetings

• Taking responsibility in the YP program

• Taking care for Master of Ceremony

• Fill the 90 min. European meeting

• Take care of buying in of the delegates to the local ministries of CBMC

3.2.3 Trainings, conference and retreats

Retreat for the ministry leaders, February 8-11. The goal of this retreat is to listen to God

individually and as a group. We would like to understand what God has in mind for our nations in

Europe, and our national business ministry especially.

Preparing and organising the conference of 2019. This conference we would like to dedicate to the publication of the book, that Wouter intends to write. Speakers of name can comment on it and the total package can give us more name and exposure. Trainings Two trainings are already in use:

• Being a Marketplace Ambassador of Christ. A two-day training for outreach to others,

about being a witness. We train the concept of being, we train coaching skills and we

offer the BridgeMeetings and the Alpha Business course as a tool.

• Building a CBMC ministry. A two-day training about the vision of CBMC, small groups,

building spiritual reproducers, and coaching as a skill.

Business God’s way, will be our third one. A two-day training about Business God’s way with Christian principles and Christian view on society, economy and business. Based on the content of our new book.

We would be delighted if we could facilitate these trainings in various nations and that they will be

used afterwards as their own national resource to equip and train their members and

businesspeople.

Promotion will be done during the Global CBMC convention in Belfast, during our European time.

December 2017 Europartners Review 2017 and Outlook 2018, moving forwards - 12 -

3.2.4 Young Professionals Academy

Our goal is to train a minimum of 15 European nations in the next few years. 2018 will be the year in

which we want to:

1. Train up to 10 nations;

2. Connect 50 to 100 young professionals to a mentor;

3. Finish our booklet and training for year 2 of the Academy and develop year 3.

Train the nations

We have planned already:

• YPA 1, Portugal, Armenia, Estonia, France, Northern Ireland, Romania (Bucharest),

• YPA 2 Romania (Cluy), Ukraine, Spain

Our promotion of the YP Academy has resulted in many countries being interested. Next to our

planning, we are expecting to be in Slovakia in 2018, and are hoping for Poland, and UK, as well.

Finland and Belarus may join the movement in 2019.

We are connected to CRU and IFES and both organizations are interested in working together in

nations that they are better connected to than we are. It is premature to envision where this may

lead us, but it is possible that we will be visiting nations that have not yet been mentioned.

Pick my brain- sessions

It is also possible for the local young professional movements to request Europartners for speakers.

This means that we will fly in a Christian entrepreneur who is very able to teach about subjects that

matter to the young professionals and are in line with Europartners’ goals. We call this a “Pick-your-

brain-session”. Ukraine is the first nation that has requested this, and we expect more nations to

follow.

Mentoring

Young professionals who are working in the marketplace can become part of our mentoring

program. The mentors are mostly from Western Europe. In 2018 we will be needing 20 to 40

mentors. The networks of Wouter, Frans and Abraham will be used to reach this number. Potential

mentors are always interviewed by Frans before they receive a possible “go”.

Development of our curriculum

Our curriculum is the following:

Year 1. Growing in self-leadership; this includes discovering God’s calling, and developing potential,

skills, talents, gifts and personality and character traits.

Year 2. Living as a Christian in the Marketplace; this includes teachings on a Biblical understanding of

work, business, economy and finances.

Year 3. Sharing the Gospel and becoming a spiritual reproducer; this includes teachings on

evangelism and discipleship, a personal application of the Gospel, and coaching.

In October 2017, Peter Briscoe started working on a booklet to be used in our trainings for year 2 and

we will finish this in March.

In august 2018 we will start working with Abraham on year 3.

December, 2017 Europartners Review 2017 and Outlook 2018, moving forwards - 13 -

3.2.5 BridgeMeetings.

To make this program successful is our big challenge for 2018. Therefore we will work on:

• New pilots like, The Netherlands -Arnhem, UK -Oxford and/or Leeds, and we will run a pilot

in Africa-Zambia. We are still looking for a pilot place in Germany, south and east of Europe.

• Promote it at the CBMC Global Convention in Belfast.

• Train people in an international training, previous to the CBMC world convention.

• Make it a part of our Marketplace Ambassador training together with Alpha Business.

We will be content if the pilots fly-off well and new nations/cities apply for the tool or training.

3.2.6 Coach training.

We started 2018 already with a webinar of coaching at the internet in January.

We will also give a one-day in-person training prior to the CBMC Global Convention in Belfast.

This training will be followed-up with an 8-week webinar.

We also plan to offer this training in their own language in Spain and Portugal with our national

partners.

In 2018 we also would like to have the manual translated in the Ukrainian and Russian language.

In 2019 we would like to have the videos in place in these languages too.

There is also a planning for a roll-out in Romania in their language. In this we depend on our local

partner.

3.2.7 Developing new resources.

Resource Centre

We would like to expand our resource centre at the website with two topics

• Economy, a Christian perspective with resources from various people and organisations

• A (CBMC) business ministry, where we will publish our experience and insight to run a

healthy and vital (CBMC) business ministry

Next to this we will launch three new studies, introduction talks for small groups.

Book

In this book with the title ‘The tale of two cities’, Wouter will express his thoughts about society,

economy and business. We think that this specific approach is not there already. We also believe

that the book will help to promote Europartners as a movement and give it more profile.

We expect publication at a Europartners conference in 2019. It can also help to give the Europartners

conference more exposure and name.

A spin-off is the training, Business God’s way and workbooks for small groups, we can launch in 2019

and 2020.

3.2.8 Prayer.

We maintain focusing on this and try to raise the awareness and participation

• Expand the participants at the prayer group at Facebook 61 -> 75

• Expand the subscribers to the monthly update and prayer letter 118-> 150

December 2017 Europartners Review 2017 and Outlook 2018, moving forwards - 14 -

3.2.9 Communication and PR.

Awareness

Our goal is to grow in awareness and our main event to achieve this goal, is the CBMC World

Convention.

Our tools to communicate with our stakeholders are and remain:

• Personal visits and Skype/Gotomeeting

• Newsflash

• Monthly update and prayer report

• Website

• LinkedIn

• Facebook

• Xing

Website

In 2018 we would like to promote our Resource Centre more and bring it in the spotlights

We will use the Newsflash, LinkedIn and Facebook to publish questions and make small publications

to draw people to our Resource Centre.

Social Media

Due to the policy of Facebook and its decreasing numbers and popularity, we will move to LinkedIn

more. The Europartners group will re-promote now LinkedIn, would like to put more attention to

groups and we will send more notifications and announcements by this medium.

BridgeMeetings

Because of the lacking results of the BridgeMeetings, we will reposition and pay more attention to it.

We will re-write the promotion, instruction and idea and make the website and information more

publicly and increase the promotion.

4.0 Long Term Strategy and Priorities (2016) – 2020

Besides our regular work like coaching, training, mission trips/outreach, resources development and

our annual conference, we like to emphasise some parts of our work and the start of some new

initiatives:

2019

• Targeting high-end executives with their own meeting places. Like the BridgeMeetings

• Having a Coordinator Eastern Europe (non-EU) and a strategy for Eastern Europe (non-EU)

2020

Consultation, perfection and broader rollout:

• Developing more sustainable ministries with boards, bylaws, teams and a

director/coordinator

• Making a decision about what to do with the Muslim nations and Middle East.

December 2017 Europartners Review 2017 and Outlook 2018, moving forwards - 16 -

5.0 Budget and Finances 2018

We need an additional €50.000 to compensate the expansion of activities and our ambition.

The way we want to realize this is to use a mix of scenarios

• Donors for € 5.000 – 10.000 a year and a 3 to 4 year commitment, this needs personal

relationships and personal requests.

• Small donors with a monthly contribution and commitment of € 50 – € 200.

We will launch a campaign for this, and approach a select group of stakeholders of

Europartners.

• Crowdfunding. A new tool to fund projects like the Young Professionals Academy, the book

and scholarships.

The ultimate goal on the long term is to have a broader base of small donors and supporters of

Europartners, so we will be less dependable on our bigger donations.

Our comprehensive annual financial report 2017 and budget 2018 is available at our website:

https://www.europartners.org/donations-anbi (at the end of the page).
