ALL IN—Pastor Jonathan
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
Recently, I heard a story that followed one of our healing services at Horne Memorial United Methodist Church (HMUMC). One individual who prayed with someone else for a relative called them to find that the day after that service their nagging chronic pain had amazingly disappeared. God had taken the pain away. There are other stories - lives of children, youth, and adults touched by our living Lord through worship, programs, or events here at Horne. What an amazing, loving, miracle-working God, we worship and serve. He has blessed our church in so many ways and there are even greater things ahead. Fellowship dinners, Bible studies, Chancel choir, youth, confirmation, children’s ministries, and all our activities are back in full swing. New ministries such as Alpha, a senior high youth Sunday school class, and a small group for college and young adults in their twenties have been added into the mix. God continues to bless us with His provision and we could not experience it without your support of Horne Memorial United Methodist Church. In this season, we turn our attention to our 2019 programs and budget. As our church experi-ences God’s blessing and continues to grow, our needs continue to increase. These needs include but are not limited to various studies, various small groups, staff, and space and building issues. Our proposed budget to help us address many of our needs is $1,145,000.00 which is an increase over last year’s approved budget of $1,090,000.00. To help us meet this need, we are asking for everyone to come alongside us with their support in our upcoming stewardship campaign. Our campaign theme this year is “All In.” In order for us to continue to support what God is doing here, we need everyone - you and me - to join together to make a difference at Horne. We need to be “all in” with our time. We need to be “all in” with our tithes. We need to be “all in” with using our talents to benefit the church. And maybe most importantly, we need to be “all in” by trusting God completely to guide, provide, and lead us forward. Together, we can continue to build God’s Kingdom and to further the mission He continues to provide to our church. We look forward to seeing what God has in store for us – now and later. Let us commit to being “all in” so we can receive the blessing God wants to provide for our family and His church. Soon you will receive a stewardship letter and a commitment card inviting you to be “all in” for God and His church at Horne Memorial UMC. You can mail in your 2019 commitment to the church office in the return envelope provided by Friday, November 2nd, or there will be an opportunity during all three services on Sunday, November 4th, to lay your commitments on the altar. Remember God loves you. Remember what He has done for you. Look around and observe what He is doing at church and think about what more He may do as we strive to go “all in” with our commitment.
