November 1st Congratulations - 30 weeks!!!
Heritage Hills staff have hit the 30-week mark. Thirty weeks of COVID testing to ensure that our residents remain safe. Although it is an “uncomfortable” procedure, each and every week, each member of the staff takes a few minutes out of their busy day to get tested. We have all come to realize the importance of this serial testing as well as taking precautions when we are home. The facility has recently acquired the BD Veritor System, which is a rapid test for COVID. The test can be done on any resident or staff member that presents with COVID symptoms. This test provides results in 15 minutes, enabling us to take prompt action to prevent spread if a test is positive. Heritage Hills has been very pro-active in our attempts to combat the virus. We have educated our staff and maintain a sufficient supply of PPE. High-contact surfaces are cleaned every 4 hours, and the housekeeping has “stepped-up” their regular cleaning routines. Heritage Hills remains ahead of the curve. We recently had an unannounced survey by the Department of Health focusing on Infection Control. We were not cited any deficiencies, and in fact complimented on our "attention to detail” along with our policies/procedures that we follow closely. This is an achievement that most facilities do not accomplish.
Be safe. Stay well. Wear your masks. Use hand sanitizer. Social Distance.
Barbara Langshaw-Bettez RN BSN Infection Control Nurse/Staff Educator

Thanksgiving is Irene’s favor ite holiday. “Since I have 4 children, my family always gathered at my house and I did all the cook-ing. As years passed and in-laws were added to our group, we’d have a smorgasbords of food. Everyone would make something. Over the past few years, my daughter-in-laws did all the cooking and brought it to my house for all to enjoy.” As for Philomena, born and raised in Ireland, she didn’t celebrate Thanksgiving till he met her husband Bob when she was 20 years old while living in East Providence. “Thanksgiving was Bob’s favorite holiday. He would take me to my mother-in-law’s house where a gluttonous meat was served. Turkey was the main dish. Once married, we purchased a fresh turkey from the local farm annually.” Thanksgiving is extra special for Coco. “I was born on Thanksgiving and had a late Thanksgiving get together with my family. A year later, my mother baked me a little chicken in celebration of my birthday. We all had a good time singing. This year I will be 91!!!” Anna C. enjoyed a big plate of turkey with many sides. " I would bake my favorite pie, apple of course! We ate too much and took naps after such a huge meal. The leftovers tasted even better!” Leonora fondly remembers having a turkey dinner with her 6 great grand-children. “We played cards after dinner. After dinner we would have coffee and desserts.” The happiest Thanksgiving for Mary De. was when her whole family and relatives gathered together. “After dinner , we would all sit and talk for 3 hours. That was the day I always cherished!” Robert M. would go up to Attitash Mountain and watch the kids come down the Alpine slides and celebrate Thanksgiving weekend. “At some point, we drive up to North Conway where my wife and daughter enjoy the outlets.” Danny H.’s family would go up to their vacation house in New Hampshire. We participated in the local fishing contest on Lake Winnipesaukee. The winner would get $10,000-$15,000 prize according to the number of participants!” Joe J. remembers going to a cabin in New Hampshire owned by his fr iend. “The cabin was out in the wilderness where moose came up to the door. We would go biking and celebrate Thanksgiving together.”

So, for this month's newsletter, I elected to go with the three S's... "short, sincere and sweet". I just want to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU for your continued support and patience. Since this COVID pandemic began, life as we knew it has changed. These changes in which we have acclimated to have not been easy for any of us to endure. The added stresses associated with COVID have caused us to experience feelings of fear, despair and worry. As I continue to make update calls, please know that I remain available to you. These times truly have tested our strength however, also caused us to feel sadness, frustration and despair. While most understand the need for the COVID restrictions and guidelines being enforced by the CDC, DOH and Governor, most do not like the "new normalcy" they have brought to our daily lives. While we do not know what the future will bring, my hope and prayer is that we will regain the sense of normalcy we once knew and soon our lives go back to being able to hug and touch our loved ones. Please know, as we continue to get through these trying times, I remain available and just a phone call away. I will listen and continue to try my best to be of comfort and help to you. As our DNS Brenda always says, "together we got this".

Hi Everyone!
As everyone knows, it is the flu season. Flu shots have been administered to the residents, and we had a flu shot clinic for our staff. We continue with COVID testing weekly for all of our staff. At this time, I am very thankful to say that all of our staff remains negative.
I would like to welcome our new staff, Rose Louis Noel, RN, Allison Lee, LPN. Agnes Collins, CNA, Elizabeth Stewart, CNA, and Maggie Bazelais, CNA, Welcome to the Heritage Hills team!!
I have gotten some questions regarding holiday visitation. We will continue to keep all of the families informed as we receive updates from the Governor and Department of Health.
I hope everyone has a safe, healthy, and
happy Thanksgiving
